Things I'm Thankful For

In honor of Thanksgiving I figured I'd make a list of a few of things I'm thankful for, so let's go with 27 since Thanksgiving is on Nov 27th!

1. My Mom, because today is her birthday!! Happy Birthday Mom!!
2. A job where I can type up what I'm thankful for on my blog.
3. An awesome husband who puts up with all my crap and puts away most of the laundry.
4. Good friends
5. My faith
6. A new sister-in-law
7. Being able to go out to eat.
8. Having a nice house.
9. Finally getting to have a baby!
10. My dog, even though he has learned how to jump the fence and escape.
11. Being able to see my family over the holidays.
12. My car (the fact that it's paid off is even better!)
13. The ability to type, and not have to hunt and peck like some people have to.

Last Weekly Dr.'s Visit

So, today was our final visit at Dr. Galle's office. It really was bittersweet. Bitter because we don't need to go back there, we won't get weekly sonograms, and I know we won't get all the TLC at the regular office that we do with Dr. Galle and his nurses. Sweet, because we are finally pregnant and having a normal healthy pregnancy!!! Dr. Galle took me off my progesterone today, so no more suppositories, another sweet part!!! Now all I am taking is pre-natal vitamins!! I've been feeling pretty good this week, although these few days of session have really worn me out! I managed to gain 3 lbs this week, so I'm obviously eating just fine!

My Mom (Nana) was in town today getting her haircut and doing some shopping, so she came with us to our appointment. Now we'll have to get Grandma Kershaw a chance to come with us. The baby put on quite a show and was moving all over the place today. We even got a little hand wave (which is what you are seeing in the 2nd sonogram pic). The heartbeat was still going strong at 173 bpm, which is slower than it has been, but is perfectly fine.

We got some nice parting gifts today, and they said I could come in anytime so they could rub my belly, and see any new sonogram pictures that I have. They also said there was plenty of room on their bulletin board for pictures, but that seeing the actually baby would be even better. That's one of the first stops on my list once the baby is born, because without these awesome people we wouldn't even have this chance to be having our very own baby!!!

Now that we are done with Dr. Galle's office, we will be moving back to Springfield Clinic where I will be seeing Dr. Putman on December 2nd. We'll go for an ultrasound and then meet with the Dr. I'm assuming that I'll be going just once a month, like a regular pregnant woman goes but I guess we'll find out in a few weeks.

This weekend we are headed up to the Quad Cities to Uncle Travis & Aunt Sara's wedding. Adam's brother is getting married this weekend and they can't wait to be aunt and uncle!!! We're excited to welcome Sara into our family. She's a perfect fit!! So, we'll be busy this weekend and next week is Thanksgiving!! I'm guessing I'll gain a few more pounds!!

Weekly Dr.'s Visit

Today Adam and I saw Dr. Galle in what will be one of our last few visits. The baby is continuing to grow very well and now measures 3.78 cm this week. The heart beat was going strong at 181 beats per minute. We got to see the baby moving around today. It's truly amazing how much this little thing has changed from week to week. Adam and I are going to be sad when we don't get to go for weekly sonograms. These sonogram pictures almost need to be looked at upside down to get a better view of the baby. The first one is the best one, you can really see the face and hand in this one.

My cysts have decreased in size, which is what Dr. Galle expected. He says next week I'll probably get to stop taking the Progesterone suppositories. He also took me off my Metformin, which was the medicine I was taking for my insulin resistance. After next week I'll just be taking my Pre-natal vitamin!! Yeah!! I also have maintained my weight this week. Today I ate like a champion, and I feel really great today too!!! Dr. Galle said I can also call my regular OB/GYN and make an appointment for 3 weeks from now. So, starting December I imagine we'll just be going once a month.

I'm hoping by next week I'll have news to report of a new niece or nephew being born. I had a dream Amy had the baby on Nov 16th, and I think I've really gotten her hopes up. She's not due until Dec 2nd, so it wouldn't be too early for her to have the baby. I'm getting awfully excited to meet this new addition. Then I can go by some baby clothes because I've really been wanting to do that!!!

Weekly Dr. Visit

Adam & I went again today for our weekly visit with Dr. Galle. Things are continuing to look really good. The baby has grown to a whole 2.58 cm. This week the sonogram actually looks like a baby. If you look closely at the 2nd picture I'm pretty sure you can see a little face. The heart beat was beating well at 178 bpm, the same as last week. My cysts are getting smaller, and should continue over the next few weeks to get even smaller. Dr. Galle is very happy with the progress, and says next week we'll talk about making an appointment to see my regular OB/GYN. He said that last week too, but I didn't want to tell him that, so we'll just do it next week!

I've lost another 2 pounds this week. It's not that I'm feeling nauseous, but nothing ever really sounds that good to eat. I really had to make myself eat lunch today, but Becky and Brandy sat in my office and talked to me so it made it easier to focus on talking instead of eating. I know it sounds weird, but that just how it goes. I did feel much better after I ate though!

I had Election Day off from work, so I took advantage and went and visited 2 day cares: First Impressions & Cathedral Child Care. I liked First Impressions, so I put our name on that list. It was very similar to Children's House that we visited last week. Cathedral was just OK. The baby room seemed fine, but I wasn't impressed with the Toddler and Pre-K areas. They just seemed really cluttered, and that really bothered me. I figure if that's the only place we can get in when the baby is first born we'll go there, and then move to a different daycare when the opportunity arises. I'd like Adam to go back and look at them, but at least our name is on the waiting list at both places. I think we're going to go look at one in Sherman and then call it quits. Hopefully between four places we'll be able to get into one of them!

We're Pregnant!!! 10-3-08

After months and months (28 to be exact) of trying, and hoping, and wishing, and praying God has blessed us with a positive pregnancy test!!!!! It's truly a moment we've been waiting for that it almost doesn't seem real yet! We took a home pregnancy test on Wednesday and it came back postive, so I immediately jumped in the shower and was off to the Dr's office to get a blood test to verify the results. They were verified two very long hours later. Anything over a 5 is considered a positive test and my number was 109 so it is confirmed!!!!!! Adam took the afternoon off work and we made the rounds telling first Adam's Dad, then his Mom, and then my parents. Lots of calls were made to our family and a few friends. Needless to say the news is traveling fast, but we are still in the very early stages. We will go see Dr. Galle on October 16th for our first ultrasound. After that we will start going back to our regular doctor. I'm sad to leave that office because they have been so incredibly good to us. They were so excited on Wednesday when I went into the office.

Adam and I truly would like to thank everyone for all their love, support, and prayers during this trying time. It would not have been easy without all of you. We'll still need your prayers for a healthy baby and a healthy pregnancy, but that's a lot more fun to pray for too!!!! God has truly blessed us in our life, and has taken us on quite a journey, but my Dad says we are journey people, so we're cool with the journey we've been on. I know God will continue to not only bless us, but all of you that have been such an important part of our journey. The last two days I've had a song in my head that I keep singing: "Glory and Praise to our God who alone gives light to our days. Many are the blessings he bears to those who trust in his ways!" It truly has been our faith in God that has allowed us to prevail!

Back Blogging 10-16-08

Adam and I just got home from our first Dr.'s appointment with Dr. Galle, and there is only one baby. We had an ultrasound done, and even got to see the heart beating!!! That was amazing, and really made this all seem real! Dr. Galle said seeing the heart beat this early is a very good sign, and he too seemed very excited. The good news is that we get to go every week for the next 5-6 weeks to see Dr. Galle and get an ultrasound, then we'll go to our regular OB/GYN. We're so happy we get to keep going to Dr. Galle. They really have become part of our family. They were so happy to see us today.

I do have about 5 cysts on my ovaries, that usually will go away after the first trimester, but he said I need to be careful and take it easy so that they don't rupture. It's going to kill me to have to rest, but I guess I will!! : ) The nurse told me I was really a strong woman, because most women with cysts as large as mine would be in serious pain! Other than that I'm feeling great! Haven't felt sick at all actually! I've knocked on wood, and hope that this trend continues.

As of now, the due date is June 10, 2009, which is one day after my birthday. I know it would be a great birthday present, but I'd rather not share my birthday! It'll be big one for me. . . the big 3-0!! Of course we'll keep you up to date! Please keep the prayers going!

Back Blogging 10-23-08

So, it's time for the weekly baby update. We went and saw Dr. Galle again today. The baby has grown quite a bit over the last week. It is now a whole 1.03 cm long, which is right on target. Still doesn't look like much, but there sure is a lot going on and growing. We got to see the heart beat again today AND hear it for the first time!! It's a pretty cool thing to hear! The baby's heart rate was 146 beats per minute, which is also considered normal and healthy. I still have several cysts, so I'm still supposed to take it easy. Dr. Galle won't be in on Thursday of next week, so we'll go in on Friday (Halloween!!!)

I had what I thought was my first round of morning sickness on Tuesday, but went to work to tough it out. I got sick on the way to work and then when I got to work. I was laying on my office floor, and the girls at work told me about 10:30 that I needed to go home. They drove me, which was a really good thing because I would have never made it on my own. I laid in bed all day and continued to get sick. I felt fine on Wednesday though. Went and hung out with Mom who was recovering from gall bladder surgery. She's doing good though!! I talked to Dr. Galle about my epidemic and he said it was just a stomach virus and not the flu. He said the flu that's going around is lasting 7-10 days. I feel sorry for anyway who has to feel like I did for that long!! Anyway, he suggested I get a flu shot, and it just so happens they are doing that on Monday at work. I guess I'll go take advantage of that!!

Football season official ends tomorrow. It's kind of bitter sweet. It's not been the best year for the Bullets, we are 2-6 right now. The weather is starting to get bad, so it might just be a good thing we are going to be done with the season. Next year will be better though!! We'll even have a new fan to cheer them on!!

Back Blogging 10-31-08

Adam and I went for our weekly visit to see Dr. Galle. Things are progressing very nicely. The baby has grown almost a whole centimeter this week!! It now even has little hands and feet, but it's still pretty hard to decifer anything in the sonogram picture. The baby's heart rate was good, and was beating at 178 beats per minute. I have lost a pound, but nothing to worry about there. The cysts are also shrinking, but still have quite a ways to go. Dr. Galle says each week they should be getting smaller as the placenta will start making progesterone on it's own, which is what some of the cysts are doing currently. I'm still taking it easy, but that hasn't been too hard to do. I've still been feeling good (knock on wood!), I've just been really tired.

On a different note, we also went and visited our first daycare today. It's called Children's House and is located less than a mile from my office. Adam and I both really liked it, but the waiting list is quite long. There are 45 people ahead of us and they only have 8 babies at a time. The babies stay in the infant room until 15 months, so there isn't a whole bunch of turnover. The good thing is we do have some time, so we just put our name on the list and we will now wait. I am going on Tuesday to look at two other day cares, and more than likely will put our name on those waiting lists as well. It's so crazy to think that we have to start worrying about this stuff already, but that's just how it works! We're just going to pray that God will lead us on our journey to the right place. He seems to have done a good job so far!!

Let the Blogging Begin!

Well, I've decided to join the blogging world. It's not something I ever thought I'd do, but with a new baby on the way I thought it would be an easy way to keep everyone up to date in an organzied fashion. I don't consider myself a good writer or having a very exciting life, but my friend Jenni blogs and had a post the other day that she found that talks about how important all the little things in life are. No matter how insignificant we think our lives are, they are important and it's even more important to share those little moments with the ones you love! I'm just hoping Adam doesn't grade me too hard on my grammar and run-on sentences, but I think I'll be OK!

I think I'm going to try and "back-blog" if that is such a thing to get the lastest pregnancy happenings all in one spot. So, here's a toast to my blogging beginnings!!
