18 Month Well Baby Visit

Today we headed to see Dr. Veronica for Amelia's 18 month well baby visit.  She did wonderfully and is a perfectly healthy little girl!  She didn't much care for getting her shots, but who can blame her. Alex talked a big talk about being strong and not crying for his flu shot.  He talked a real good game right up until the minute he got the shot!!  Poor guy, he tried to be brave.

Weight: 26 lbs (86%)

Head Circumference: 48 cm (89%)

Oh Dinkarita, you are such an amazing little girl.  You vocabulary has grown by leaps and bounds as of late. We really can't believe how much you are talking.  Our favorite word you say is 'octagon.'  It sounds so sweet!  You are starting to say your colors, letters, and numbers.  You know what a circle is, and love to point them out to us.  When I'm counting at Alex because he's in trouble, I say 'one' and you usually say 'two' before I can get it out.  Talk about trying not to laugh during a serious moment!

You have become quite obsessed with your baby doll, Pup, and Mickey Mouse.  You sleep with them all and have to drag them all downstairs in the morning.  It's a slumber party every night!  You still are a good sleeper, but occasionally put up a fight when it's time for bed.

You've started showing interest in what TV show you would like to watch.  You've even brought me the remote and said "Here you go.  Caillou or Barney or Elmo" (whichever show you want at the time).  You love suckers, but we've almost finally finished all of them from Halloween.  

You love your big brother and are always concerned with where he is at.  You normally want to be doing what ever he is doing, which sometimes bothers him.  You guys have really been dancing a lot together.  It really warms my heart when you get along and laugh together.

Spider-Man

Alex is really loving all the super heroes.  He's been running around with this mesh bag on his head, and is pretending to be Peter Parker/Spider-Man.  I've got a lot to learn about all the different super heroes.

Story Time

We headed to story time for the first time in a few weeks.  Amelia did a better job of listening to the stories then Alex did.  Alex is always excited to play the laptop game and use the glue sticks and scissors.  Per usual, Amelia had her 7:00 meltdown and it was time to go.

Festival of Trees

Tonight we went to church, and then headed over to the the fairgrounds for the Festival of Trees.  I love looking at all the decorated trees, and it seems the kids shared my excitement.  Alex was more than ready to ride the train, and he was overjoyed when he got to ride in the engine and 'drive' it!  Amelia was upset when we had to wait in line to see Santa, but she survived!  I truly amazed that she likes Santa so much.  The kids two favorite trees were the Nemo tree and the Hawaiian Santa.  It's such a fun way to kick of the holiday season!!

Relaxing Day at Home

While Daddy hung the lights, the kids watched a new Muppets movie we had recorded, and I started the Christmas decorating process.  After Daddy got all the lights done outside, he brought all the toys in off the porch.  They didn't make it very far before the kids snagged them up and drove them all over the house.

The Lighting of the Trees

OK, so it's only our outside lights, but it's a start.  Alex has been dying to put up our Christmas lights.  Several people have had their lights up for a while, but trying to get Alex to understand that we only do one holiday at a time has proven pretty difficult.  He says, "Everyone has their lights up." and I say "Alex we aren't everyone." and he says "Mom, we are everyone."  and I say "No, Alex, we are the Kershaw's."  This is a life lesson we'll have to teach time and time again.

I loved seeing the excitement on their faces as we busted out all our Christmas decorations!!

Thanksgiving Dinner--Take #3

Today we headed to Bunker Hill to celebrate Thanksgiving with the Meehan side.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day, so after filling our bellies we headed outside to visit and play with family.  Miss Amelia is teething and crabby and irritable doesn't really even begin to explain her today.  She would be friendly in about 10 minute increments so I would use those times to pass her off to another family member and try to get a break from time to time.  We were so excited to get to spend time with Uncle Jordan and Barbara.  It's been since May since we've seen them.

Maniac Monday

The kiddos shared the couch and watched some cartoons while dining on some delicious frozen pancakes this morning.  Not a bad way to start a Monday!!!
