Happy Halloween!

Alex dressed up for school today and they had a party and did a little trick or treating, and he came home with a ton of candy.  Then Daddy went and took the kids to get our traditional picture taken in Sherman.  Mommy stayed home because she wasn't feeling good. 

After they came home we went across the street to the church's Trunk or Treat and got candy and then stopped at two of the neighbors house.  That was really enough for Alex.  He was being shy and I didn't feel good (actually puked in the front yard), and Adam had to go teach class so we just called it quits.  Amelia had been asleep so we ended up not even getting her in her costume, but she still looked like a skeleton so she wasn't a total party pooper.  I was so bummed that we couldn't answer the door, because I love seeing all the costumes.  I guess there's always next year!

If Only. . .

I sure wish Alex could do all the things he pretends to do like wash clothes and fold laundry, cook, mow the grass, leaf blow, etc Adam and I would have it made.  Too bad by the time he could actually do it he will have absolutely no interest in doing it.  Darn the luck!

Happy Autumn!!

 

So everyone has patiently waited for me to stuff Amelia into a pumpkin like I did with her big brother.  As you may recall, he hated it but the picture was priceless.  Amelia had no complaints, as a matter of fact she was all smiles.  Happy Autumn everyone!!!  I think our last few days of nice weather are upon us!

Pumpkin Carving!

We stayed in our jammies all day because we were tired from being up with Alex all night.  Later in the day I thought we'd give pumkin carving a go.  Alex thought it was gross and wanted nothing to do with it.  Amelia could have cared less, obviously!!  I still had fun, but only carved one of the several pumpkins I had bought.  Alex was impressed with the final product when we took it into the laundry room to light it up since it wasn't dark out yet!

More Halloween Festivities

Tonight we headed to Southwinds Park on the south side of Springfield for more Halloween fun.  We met Jill and Anthony and had lots of fun on the big jungle gym.  It's a really nice park.  The line for Trick or Treating was super long so we skipped that and just played.  Then we watched a really great fireworks display. 

In the middle of the night Alex started puking and was up a good part of the night.  Not a fun way to end the night!

That's a Winner!!

 

Tonight we played in our first playoff game of the season.  We beat the Gillespie Miners 56-28.  The clock ran for a majority of the second half, which was fine considering it was pretty chilly outside.  Plus we were all excited to go back to the house and see the end of Game 7 of the World Series.  The Cardinals pulled it off and won their 11th World Series in the year 2011.  What a great night!

5 Months Old

Today you are 5 months old!!  You are getting quite a little personality these days.  You love to laugh, especially at your brother.  We don't know if you love Alex more or if he loves you more.  Every day as soon as soon as you see each other both your faces light up and you just laugh and smile at each other.  You love when he gets right in your face.  I sure hope that love continues for years to come.  You are quite ticklish, and your laugh can almost sound a bit like a cry but you always want more.  You've really taken an interest in toys and are rolling all over the place.  You've been waking yourself up in the night because you rollover.  It's driving Momma nuts!!  Sure wish you would sleep better, but I know one day I'll miss cuddling with you.  As of late you only want your Momma, even your Daddy won't due.   You are getting the hang of eating solids and are quite a little piggy.  You've recently decided that you're not a fan of butternut squash, but that's it so far.

I can't believe how fast the time is flying.  I love watching you grow and change.  You really are a very special and sweet little girl.  Love you!!

Lil Pumpkin

According to Alex

A few funny stories from Alex in the last few days.  Yesterday I noticed his lip was busted when I got to daycare, just a little on the lower lip.  I asked him what happened and he told me the same story he told the ladies at daycare. . .  "Sissy threw a block at me."  Oh goodness, we have a story teller on our hands.  I could maybe believe this a year from now, but it's just not feasible now!!


The other day we put a jack-o-lantern in Alex's room.  He likes to plug it in when he goes to sleep at night.  Tonight we plugged it in and the light was casting shadows on the ceiling and he says to me. "Look, a triangle!" I had no idea he knew any of his shapes.  He seems to be learning so much, but only wants to share it when it's convenient for him and not when I ask him what shape something is or what color something is.  He's such a smart and stubborn little boy!

Also tonight while reading the train book he talked about picking Uncle Jacob up from the train station, which was  few months ago.  It amazes me how little ones can remember such little details.  So we decided to call Uncle Jacob, but he didn't answer.  Alex left a message that I'm sure will entertain Jacob. He kept telling him about picking him up from the train station.  He was pretty bummed he didn't answer and kept wanting me to call again. 

I need to do a better job of recording these little moments.  I just love being a Mom!!!

Halloween at the Library

So excited about the train book, he laid right out on the floor at the library.

Tonight we had no plans, just hanging out at home.  Alex and I had just finished eating tacos for dinner and we were feeding Amelia some green beans and telling her how much we both love green beans when the phone rang.  It was our friend Debbie inviting us to come to the library for story time and don't forget to wear your Halloween costume.  So we rushed around because we only had about 15 minutes!  We were only 5 minutes late and we had a great time!!!

Alex loved dressing up as a zookeeper and he thought Amelia was so cute as a ladybug!!  I was worried he wouldn't keep the hat on, but he loved it!!  We listened to Halloween stories and then did several activities.  Alex hung out with Reese and then we saw Bailey, who goes to daycare with Alex.  We made a flying ghost, a foam magnet ghost, and a picture.  We also signed up for a library card and checked out a book  Alex was so excited to get a book all about trains!  So we came home, put on our jammies, ate ice cream, and read our book.  It was such an enjoyable evening.  I love impromptu plans.  They make such great memories!!
