Tonight Liz and I had our 4th annual pumpkin carving night. I had a mishap because my stencil wasn't designed very well, but using some toothpicks I was able to put the haunted house back together. Upon Seth's request Liz carved Frankenstein, and did a mighty fine job. Alex really wasn't into being shoved into a pumpkin or getting his picture taken in general tonight. All in all we had a fun night though.

Fall Festivities

I love fall, so we did a quick fall photo shoot. Alex wasn't super into it, but we managed a few shots! You can see his true feelings about being inside a pumpkin, but really I think the picture is cute anyway!! At least we actually got to enjoy a few fall days this week! Happy Fall everyone!!

Shrimp Boil

Last Saturday we headed to the Surratt's for a Shrimp Boil. We saw lots of people we hadn't seen in a long time. It was so nice to visit with everyone. Many friends from college were there and met Alex for the first time. Ashley and Gabbi helped put Alex to sleep, and as you can tell from the pictures they were tired too. Gabbi is mimicking Alex's finger sucking in the second picture!!

Achy Ear

All weekend Alex was kind of grumpy. On Friday night I thought it was because I had him so bundled up for the football game. (We don't want to talk about the game because we lost and the playing conditions were terrible!!) Saturday night he only wanted his Mom when we were the Surratt's and Sunday he wasn't very happy either. Alex was also constipated on Sunday, so I had to go to the pharmacy and get suppositories for him. They worked like a charm!!

On Monday I got a call from the daycare saying Alex was running a 100.5 temp, fussy, wouldn't sleep and wasn't taking his bottle. I went and picked him up, took him home, and called the Doctor. He fell asleep on Mommy and did that for most of the evening. He slept pretty good that night, and we got up and went to the Dr. in the morning. After weighing it at 18lbs 10 oz, the Physician's Assistant, Tracy came in and checked Alex out. She had to dig lots of wax out of his right ear, and then determined that he did indeed have an ear infection. Daddy had a lot of ear infections growing up and so did Mommy's brothers. I'm thinking this is going to be an ongoing problem!! So, we then made a trip to the pharmacy for our first prescription and got some Amoxicillin. He slept a good part of the day (and so did I), but I did manage to get all the clothes that he has outgrown packed up and ready to be stored until another little baby comes (it's going to be a while folks!!)

Alex seems to be feeling better and is taking his medicine like a champ. He had even managed to poop up his back by the time I got him to daycare this morning!! Oh the joys of parenthood!!

It's Halloween Time!

Halloween is my favorite time of year, so of course Alex has several outfits to celebrate the occasion. (Thanks Manda!! She bought these onesies right after I found out I was pregnant last year!) I'm sad that I don't get to decorate this year, but it seems kind of silly to drag stuff out when I'm supposed to be packing everything up! Anyway, enjoy the pictures of the Halloween season. Have you ever seen a skeleton with such chunky legs?! I just love them!

Future Job?!?!

According to Alex's bib that Aunt Angie got for him, he may have a future as a Food Critic!! We find this bib pretty funny, particularly since he is a breastfed baby!! I think he likes what he eats!!

I've Got Feet!!

Alex has recently discovered that he has feet. He tries grabbing them all the time, but hasn't tried putting them in his mouth yet. It's so fun to watch him discover new things!!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!

Yesterday was Adam's 30th Birthday!! I didn't ever have a chance to post anything though. We've been super busy lately. Adam has football and I have veto session this week. We celebrated his birthday with dinner from Magic Kitchen at the Kunz's house. Liz has been kind enough to pick Alex up from daycare since Mommy and Daddy are so busy. Liz is loving her time with Alex, and Seth doesn't think he's too bad but is glad he goes home with us! I made Adam a cheesecake (his favorite). All in all I think he had a good day!

and Grandpa's!! Last night Mommy and Daddy went to a wedding, so Alex spent the night with Grandma and Grandpa! He was a good boy, and Mommy and Daddy had a nice evening out. Today we've spent the day lounging around the house. Something we haven't had the chance to do in quite a while!

Time to Eat!!

Yesterday Alex had his first ever cereal!! He ate like a champ. He quickly got the hang of opening his mouth and swallowing! We hope this trend continues. He ate again today with no problems either. We'll try this out for a few weeks and then we'll start trying some vegetables. Our little man really isn't going to be little anymore once he gets going with all the food eating business!

Happy Anniversary!!

Happy 4th Wedding Anniversary to Mommy & Daddy!! Nana came and spent the evening with Alex so that we could go out to dinner. We went to Ross Isaac, and it was wonderful!! We then headed to Furniture Row and bought bar stools and 2 nightstands for our bedroom. Buying a new house somehow gives you the OK to go ahead and make other big purchases that cost lots of money too!!! I'm not complaining! We'll just say it was an anniversary gift to ourselves!

Alex was pretty fussy for Nana for no other reason than he was tired. She laid him down about 7:00 in his bed to cry it out and he immediately fell asleep, and has been sleeping ever since. This cold is really doing a number on the little man. Anyway, Mommy and Daddy had a wonderful date night!! It's pretty well deserved if I do say so myself!!

UPDATE: Alex slept until 3:30 am. He was just simply a tired tired little man. Sorry that Nana didn't get to hang out with him much!

This weekend we headed to Bunker Hill and ate dinner at Grandma Meehan's house. Alex and Thomas had a little fun together. Thomas enjoyed stealing every toy that Alex was playing with. I have a feeling this will be the first of many times that toys are stolen between the two of them!!

We then headed to the Manar's house for a sleepover. We enjoyed hanging out together, and I think the kids did too!! Believe it or not the last picture wasn't planned, they really all were just laying down together!! Aren't they cute?!

So the Illini football team isn't doing very well this year, but nonetheless Daddy was excited to put Alex in his Illini windsuit. He sure does look cute!!

4 Month Stats

Friday Alex headed to the work with Mommy for the day. He had a well baby check-up in the afternoon, so he came and visited everybody in the office. He was very good, and everyone enjoyed seeing him.

We headed to the Dr. and Alex did very well considering he had to have two exams. Dr. Veronica had a Physician's Assistant Medical Student who did an exam and then reported to the Dr. and then the Dr. came in and did an exam. Then the little man had to have two shots. He didn't even flinch on the first one, but screamed on the second one. Don't worry, Mommy was there to make him feel better. He fell asleep on the way home, so I just left him in his carseat. He ended up staying there until it was time to go to the football game. He was so tired all night long, and we kept giving him Tylenol. It was cold and rainy at the game so we stayed in the booth with Daddy. Alex was pretty chill, as you can tell from his picture this week. The next day he was as good as new!!

Anyway, let's get to the good stuff. . . Alex weighs in at 17 lbs 5oz (90th percentile) and is 26 1/2" long (90-95th percentile). His head was 43.2 cm (75th percentile). He is growing up to be such a big boy. He can start eating cereal now. I bought some but haven't started him on it yet. We'll let you know when that happens though!

All in all we have a very healthy and happy baby. Hopefully we won't have to head back to the Dr. until December for his 6th month check-up and vaccinations!

One Year Ago Today. . .

OK, so I stuck his hat on so you could see those gorgeous blue eyes!!

We received the best news we could ever imagine, we were finally pregnant!!!! I can't describe to you how wonderful that moment was. The best part is, the moment hasn't really ended! We are loving every minute of being parents!

Today Alex is 4 months old. Wow, how time flies. Alex you are growing bigger and stronger every single day. I love to see your little face light up with your big smile and can't get enough of your little laugh!! Every time I take your clothes off you have the biggest belly laugh. You have the chunkiest little legs and your cheeks are so big. I could just eat you!! I hope you continue to grow and change even though we'd love to keep you little forever!!! Happy 4 month Birthday little man, as your shirt says, you are totally huggable!! We Love You!!!!

We had our home inspection on the new house today. There's a serious problem with part of the roof which is causing interior problems as well. It could be pretty pricey to fix, but we have to see what we can negotiate. We're keeping our fingers crossed, please say a prayer!!

Homecoming Parade

Last night was Alex's first Williamsville Homecoming Parade. As you can see he wasn't into it that much, but he sure looked cute in his hat!! I didn't get a picture of him while he was awake, but boy did his eyes sure look blue!! Seth of course loved riding the firetruck, and was a little bummed that Alex was too little to ride. Next year though!!!

On Sunday we headed to Lincoln Park for a few Senate Softball games. Mommy didn't play because of her scratched cornea. It was a beautiful day out, and we had a good time hanging out with friends. We especially enjoyed hanging with the Manar's, which hasn't happened it quite some time!! I think Alex is just as big as his buddy Ben, who's a month older than he is!! Trista and I both got to spend time with our Godchildren too!!

Needless to say, The Impeachables, won it all!! Of course Mommy would be part of the best team!! Our shirts were the best too!! We had to leave the games early because we went to sign the contracts on the house we are buying and the house we are selling!! Busy Busy!!
