1 Year Stats

Well, today was Alex's one year well baby check-up. It was a few weeks late because Alex had the croup cough just after his birthday, and they didn't want to give him shots when he was sick. Mommy was going to come along, but then Trista (Alex's godmother) came into town. So, Mommy went out to eat with Trista and Laura (another of Mommy's friends), and Alex and Dad went to the doctor by themselves.

Doctor Veronica said everything is going just fine. Mommy and I were both wondering if Alex should be walking yet, but Doctor Veronica said that we didn't need to be concerned. She wanted to know if he was trying to stand, learning any words, sleeping through the night, and eating a variety of table foods. Alex is doing just fine in all of those categories (especially eating table foods). Alex hates getting weighed and off course the shots are no fun, but he was all smiles tonight!!

After Mommy got home we went for a walk down to the lake. Briggs jumped in and had a quick swim. Then we walked down to Bella for supper because Mommy spotted the special on the sign, and it looked too good to pass up. Alex really enjoyed dinner, he even managed to only drop 2 bites onto his chair and the floor was clean!!

Uncle Jordan's Home

and Barbara too!!! Today was the first time Babs got to meet Alex!!! The last time we saw her was last May in Cincinnati for her and Jordan's graduation. It's been way too long!!

We started off our visit today by heading to Kampsville for some fish! It was Babs, Thomas, & Alex's first trip on a ferry. Thomas couldn't get enough of the boat. He watched it the whole time we ate lunch. Great Grandma Meehan met us for lunch too. We had a nice visit, and then we headed to Nana & Papa's house. Uncle Jordan offered everyone some of his homemade beer. I only took a sip, not a big fan of ales. Papa, Uncle Thomas, & Daddy all liked it though! He even has a different kind brewing now for vacation next month!

We played outside even though it was ridiculously hot out. The boys had to take turns riding the toys. Thomas was a little territorial! Gabbi & Babara created some amazing desserts out of play-doh. The big boys rough housed the little boys and there was lots of throwing and tossing them back and forth and up and down. The sounds of their screams of delight are something you wish you could bottle up and keep forever. Barbara helped Alex get lots of practice walking today. He's even started pulling up on things the last few days.

We had a wonderful dinner and had lots of laughs. We stayed too late and had a very tired baby on our hands. He didn't even make it a mile down the road. I did manage to get another picture of the last remaining bit of the sunset as we headed out of the driveway. We also watched a spectacular lightening show the whole way home. It's days like this that remind me how thankful I am for such an amazing family!! Sure wish we could do it more often.

Alex spent quite a bit of time poolside, but he still had fun!!

Uncle Trevor kept sticking his finger in the skimmer,

and Alex would laugh and try to get it. This game entertained him

for a long time. Alex started using his feet and Uncle Trevor

was scared he was going to end up with a broken finger!!

Aunt Molly & Evalee

Today we met the Kershaw clan in Peoria to celebrate Father's Day. We rented a hotel room and swam and visited all afternoon. Then we went up to the room and had some dinner. It was great getting to spend the day with the family. Alex loved swimming, and was really bummed that he couldn't go in the hot tub. He kept pointing at the hot tub every time someone was in it, so right before we left I put his feet in it and he quickly decided that we were right and it was too hot for his little feet!! Alex did really great with Evalee and wasn't jealous when Mommy and Daddy loved on her. I know she is growing, but she still just seems so small next to Alex.

I would venture to say that Adam had a good day too. Even though we told him he already got his Father's Day present (a new weed eater and leaf blower) we couldn't resist getting him a little something else, so we got him the new Chuck Palahniuk book and a few shirts!! Regardless of gifts we know that we are blessed with an amazing man in our life. He's a great husband and father and we wouldn't trade him for anybody else!! He's the best snuggler, story reader, stinky diaper taker outer, dishwasher unloader, lawn mower, and clothes put-awayer we could ever imagine having in our lives!! Thanks Daddy for all you do for us!! WE LOVE YOU!!

Today was such a busy day, first we had pictures with Brandy, then met Paxton, and then headed to Bunker Hill for a cookout. Alex had a blast at Uncle Pat and Aunt Glenda's house. They have lots of animals and Alex really enjoyed checking them all out.His favorite animal was the rooster, he laughed every time it crowed!! He visited with the animals several times and played on an old playground toucan. He also got a little play time in with cousin Zoey too!! The little boy was a complete mess and had to have a bath before we could even head home!! It didn't take long for Alex to fall asleep on the way home. While he slept we enjoyed a very beautiful sunset. I'm pretty proud of these pictures considering I took them as we were driving down the interstate and they were through the glass of the window!!

Today we made a trip to Raymond to meet our new cousin, Paxton. We had to wait a while because of the surgery he had right after he was born. You would never guess the little man got such a rough start to life because he sure has the hang of it all now. He is soooo tiny and cute and cuddly. It's really amazing to think just one short year ago Alex was that little. Alex did so well today with his buddy. He wasn't even jealous when Mommy or Daddy held Paxton. Mommy even got to feed the baby a bottle!! We're so happy for Vince & Lexi!! It was great to finally get to meet the little man!!
