Homecoming Parade

Tonight was the annual WHS Homecoming Parade. Alex & Mommy were able to walk to the end of the block and watch it! Alex got entirely too much candy considering he never gets to eat it. I did let him have his first sucker tonight, and he really enjoyed it. He pretty much ate it like a pro!! Alex enjoyed the parade, and was not at all phased by the extremely loud fire truck sirens! After the parade was done we headed down the football field, where we pretty much watched the parade again, and then watched the pep rally. It's tradition for the cheerleaders to make up rhymes for the Senior players and this year they even made one up for Daddy and Alex got a shout out too!!

We sure missed waving at Daddy on the fire engine with the football coaches and boys, but he was at Benedictine University tonight teaching class. Daddy sure is super busy these days and we sure do miss him. We're so thankful he works so hard for us!! Hopefully he'll be rewarded with a win this Friday night against the Pretzels!!!

A Big Day!

Last week I visited Dr. Galle's office on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Each time I had an ultrasound to check the progress of the growing follicles. We had two eggs that were growing perfectly, which is exactly what we wanted. I also had to get blood work done each time as well. On Sunday, Adam had to give me a shot in the rear, that he referred to as a 'Pulp Fiction' needle because it was so long. I was really nervous about getting it, but Adam did a great job and it didn't even hurt or bleed!!! This shot was of HCG, which is the hormone that will release the mature eggs.

Today was the big day. . . insemination!!! Now we just have to wait!! This will be a long two weeks, but hopefully well worth the wait!!! I'm having a really good feeling about this cycle for some reason!! I don't know if it's because it's only 4 days after (2 years later) that we were inseminated and got pregnant with Alex or what, but it just feels right this time!! Let's hope so. We're following God's lead on this one!!

A New Ride

Alex loves to play with the Cozy Coupe at Nana & Papa's house and at daycare, so Mommy made her first Craig's List purchase!! The only bad thing is that the key didn't come with it! He loves to play with that at Nana's house. Alex wasn't super excited when I had to wash it down before he played with it, so then he was mad when I actually let him play with it (the first picture). After getting some food in his belly and quite a bit on his clothes, hence the lack of clothes in the rest of the photos, he was good to go!! He kept waving to me and telling me bye-bye!! I can tell this is going to be money well spent!!

If Alex really had his way, he would spend all his time driving Daddy's truck. He absolutely loves to sit at the wheel and drive, honk the horn, and make the wipers go!! As soon as he spots the truck he insists on driving and cries and throws a fit if we don't let him. Unfortunately for him, he's had to throw a few fits and get over it!! Poor Baby!!!

Also this week I discovered that Alex is getting another molar, this time on the top right side. Poor guy is miserable, but what can you do. . . teething bites!!! Also I've been told that at daycare, Alex is the resident comforter. Anytime another one of the kids starts crying he walks over to them and gives them hugs and tries to make them feel better. What a sensitive little man we are raising!!

Relaxing & Using a Fork

Alex hasn't watched his favorite DVD, which is called 'That Baby DVD' in quite some time. We put it in the laptop Sunday night and he was beyond thrilled, so we've been watching it when we get home from work/daycare. As you can see, Alex was pretty relaxed tonight while watching it. Of course, he wasn't completely happy until he had his blanket and baby with him. Yes, for some reason he calls all his teddy bears 'baby'. We don't know why, but we go with it.

Today when I picked Alex up from daycare I immediately noticed what a mess he was. They told me he had M&M's as a special treat today. This was his first real experience with chocolate and he obviously liked it. I'm not super excited about him eating candy, but I guess every once in a while isn't so bad. Ms. Kristy also told me that Alex had started saying, "Oh My Gosh!" I haven't heard him say it, but that's what they are telling me. Sounds like we're going to have a little guy that is full of drama on our hands. Oh wait. . . we already do!!!

As you can see from the pictures of supper tonight Alex was all about putting on a show! I was trying to take a picture of him using his fork, of course it took several shots to get him to do it. Half the time he gets food on the fork, but then takes it off with his hands to put it in his mouth. He is definitely favoring his left hand, so I guess we'll see if we end up with a lefty.

Bullet's Win!!!

Friday night was another big win for the Bullet's as we traveled to Pleasant Plains and came hoem with a 30-22 victory!! It was pretty much perfect football weather until 2:30 minutes left in the game, and the skies opened and the rain came pooring down!! I don't know if it was the umbrella or the rain that scarred Alex, but we had to head to the car. I was pretty wet, but somehow Alex managed to stay pretty dry. It might have had to do with the fact that Alex was all snuggled up against me in my new ErgoBaby carrier!! Let me tell you it was worth every penny I paid for it. It didn't feel like I had a 27 pound baby hanging on me at all!! It was great!!! I'll have to get a picture next time of Alex in it because he looked so cute all snuggled up and wearing Seth's Bullet's stocking cap. What a cutie. Sorry I don't have pictures to share with you though!! Next time. . .

Dr's Visit

Also on Thursday, I headed to Dr. Galle's office to get some blood work done and an ultrasound. This was done to determine what dosage of hormone shots I would need to be taking every night. It was determined that we should pick up right where left off, so I had to rotate each night between two different doses of medicine. I went back today, for another round of blood work and an ultrasound. The follicles are growing slowly, which is what we want. . . but just not too many of them or we can't proceed to the next step. So, I go back again in two days for more blood work and another ultrasound.

It's really crazy how this whole process has come back to us so quickly. It really seems like just yesterday we were doing this all for the first time. Can you really believe it's been almost 2 years?!?!? Nurse Jenny couldn't believe it today when I told her how long it had been either!!

Happy 87th Birthday Great Grandma Meehan

but then he remembered he was supposed to be in a bad mood!!

Thursday was Great Grandma Meehan's 87th Birthday, so we headed to Bunker Hill to celebrate. We stopped at the Manar's for a quick hello, since it's been a very long time since we have visited with them. Then we headed to Great Grandma Meehan's house. We all visited outside since it was such a beautiful night, even if it was a little chilly. Uncle Mike and Papa cooked on the grill. Uncle Pat couldn't help because he just has carpal tunnel surgery the day before.

Alex was pretty much a grump the whole time we were there. Some of it had to do with the fact that he was teething and some of it had to do with the fact that Papa just loves to torment Alex until he cries. It sure made Great Grandma Meehan mad, but you know there's no stopping Papa!! All in all a nice little impromptu get together!!! So glad we are blessed to still have Grandma in our lives and that she is still able to live at home and do so much on her own!! We Love You Great Grandma Meehan!!!

Oh GROSS!!!

Papa built a nice big fire for us to sit by after dinner. We were going to roast marshmallows over the fire, but Nana made two different kinds of brownies that were super delicious, so we decided to save marshmallows for another time!!

Nana was telling Gabbi about when she was little how she would light these wood reeds and pretend like she was smoking. She decided to be nastalgic and give it a whirl. She started coughing and hacking. Gabbi decided she'd give it a try too. She followed Nana's reaction and she too was coughing and immediately grabbed for her soda to wash the nasty taste out of her mouth!! She also asked if her lungs were black from smoking! We told her no, but this is what it would be like to smoke and she should never ever try it again!! Let's hope she remembers this lesson!

Play and Dinner Date!

Saturday we headed to Nana & Papa's house for dinner. The truth is Nana bought a new headboard and footboard and she wanted Daddy to put it together. She's awfully lucky to have such a handy son-in-law. The kids enjoyed playing outside and pushing each other in the car. Alex even drove Papa's lawn mower for a little while!! We had a great dinner: ribeye and porkchop sandwiches, fresh green beans, shake and bake potatoes, and salad. It was sooo yummy!! Gabbi and I even hauled out the old kids table, so we could enjoy the beautiful fall weather. Papa decided to join them too!!

Chef Alex

OK, so we don't exactly have a chef on our hands yet, but with some more practice we just may!! In the meantime, Alex enjoys banging the pans and standing in them from time to time. Before I had a chance to grab the camera, he actually was sitting in the pan!! Practice makes perfect!!

Friday Night Football!!

Friday night the Bullets headed down the road to play the Riverton Hawks! Alex had a rough day at daycare and took a nap when he got home, so we were late getting to the game then there was no place to park!! Then when we got there I had to go to the concession stand to get hotdogs for our supper, so by the time we started watching the game we were almost finished with the first half!! Alex was pretty clinging and anti-social so I gave him some Tylenol and that seemed to help. The only way we could get smiles out of him was to take him up to the fence so that he could see all the football action. There was plenty of action to watch because the Bullets won 24-7!!

I ended up figuring out on Saturday the reason he was so fussy is because he has molars starting to come in. Not a pleasant experience for the little man!! We've been battling the teeth all weekend and as I write this he has a fever and is just not feeling well at all. Sure hope those nasty things come in quick and we get our smiley happy boy back!
