Happy Memorial Day!

Today is Memorial Day, a day to remember all the men and women who have served our country. We truly are blessed to lead such a free and safe life, and it couldn't be done without brave and selfless individuals who choose to serve in any branch of the military.

Since we had the day off, we got up early and ran lots of errands. Daddy got his Father's Day presents a few weeks early. . . a new gas leaf blower an weedeater!! We grocery shopped for Buggy's birthday bash this weekend and had breakfast at McDonald's (a first for Alex!) When we got home it started to rain, but Alex wanted to go outside so we headed to the front porch. Daddy worked on fixing patio chairs and Alex tried to help too. Briggs came out to play, but as you can see he tried to knocked the gate down and was trying to escape so he was sent to the backyard. Alex scooted all over the porch and was a filthy mess, but he sure had a good time. He really was moving on his Radio Flyer today and he was making some real attempts at pulling up!! Alex then took a bath and had a nap. We ended the day by talking to Nana & Papa via Skype, our first experience with it. It worked great!! All in all, a very good day!!

ACCEPTED!!

That was the subject of an e-mail Daddy received Thursday night!! It's the news we've been waiting for. Daddy has been working with a small publishing house called Punkin Press, and they have accepted his novel for publication! We don't know what the next step in the process is, but we are so very excited. This is something Daddy has dreamed of for a very long time. We went to dinner at Sebastian's Friday night with Aaron and Liz to celebrate. We had a wonderful dinner and Alex slept the whole time Sami was here babysitting. Seth on the other hand stayed up much longer and did his own celebrating with Sami. We'll keep you posted as progress continues!! YAY DADDY!! We're so proud of you!!

Mowing the Grass

Today when Daddy was mowing the grass, Alex went for a few laps around the yard! He really enjoyed it! Mommy thought Daddy was driving a little fast, but boys will be boys!!

A Day at the Office

Alex has discovered a ruler/hole punch and a calculator that Daddy was using to grade research papers the other day. Of course, both of these are cooler than all the other toys that he has. And no day at the office is complete without a little eating on the job!!!

Have Your People Call My People

Alex is obsessed with cell phones and remote controls. This is an old phone of ours that ended up in his toy box and he has recently discovered it. He loves to 'talk' on it! His little eyes light up every time he sees a phone. Yesterday at a graduation party a kid pulls his out and Alex almost dove out of my arms trying to get it. I hope he isn't one of those people that constantly has one phone to his ear and another one texting or surfing the net!! We may have an addict on our hands!!!

Too Hot for Clothes!!

It was soooo hot on Sunday that Alex laid around all day in his diaper!! It's not supposed to be 90 degrees in May!! And your not supposed have to turn your air conditioner on in May either, but we broke down and did it. Hopefully this heat wave doesn't last long!

Messy-can Night

Tonight we had Mexican night, tacos and black beans but it ended up being a very messy night too!! Alex loved the food, of course, but oh my goodness he was messy!!! As soon as he was done eating it was up to the bathtub, I'll spare you the pictures of all the beans floating in the water!! Eventually Alex got all cleaned up and as his jammies say he's 'Handsome just like Daddy!!'

Check out the toothers in the last picture. Alex is working on getting two more on the top and two on the bottom!! He's been a trooper during the teething process.

I Love the Outdoors

Alex loves to be outside. He loves to sit on our front porch and play and watch the cars go by. Tonight he enjoyed watching the neighbor across the street use his leaf blower. He even likes to be outside when it's cold and rainy. He points at the front door and just grunts and sometimes cries until we take him outside. Yesterday at daycare he was being a fussbucket. I think mainly because his favorite lady, Miss Lisa, is in the hospital. Grandma Sharon (the daycare owner) took Alex outside and she said he sat for 45 minutes just watching the other kids. When all else fails take Alex outside!!!

We finally came inside to get ready for bed, but Alex wanted to play with his Radio Flyer too. He's getting the hang of using his feet to make it go. Daddy is gone again tonight. He had to go to Hillsboro with Grandpa Kershaw. They are picking up things from Ma's house because they sold the house and need to move everything out. Adam is getting some saws and wood that belonged to Papa Kershaw. He says he can't wait to be home for a night, and we can't either!!

Meet Paxton James!!!

Last night Daddy's cousin Lexi had a baby!!! Paxton James Walch arrived at 10:55 pm. He weighed in at 8 pounds and is 20 1/2 inches. We are so excited to welcome another little baby into our family!!!

We do ask for prayers for the family, as Paxton had to have surgery when he was only 13 hours old to remove a portion of his bowel that was obstructed. He's done well, but will be in the hospital from one to six weeks. Lexi is at Memorial Hospital and Paxton is at St. John's. I can even imagine how helpless Lexi and Vince must feel right now, but God is good and he will see them through!! What a blessing our family has received!!!

Please

We've been working on some new sign language. He can say and sign dog and we've been working on kitty since he's so infatuated with them. The last few days we've been working on more and please. Tonight with much coaxing and several animal crackers Alex signed please. I was so proud of him, and he got so excited because I was so excited. The excitement quickly faded and he just wanted the animal cracker!!! We're getting there though!

Daddy is gone tonight. He's in St. Louis with the WHS Senior Class on their senior trip. They left early this morning to go to 6 Flags , then to the Spaghetti Factory and the Cardinal game. Busy day!! We went for a walk with Briggs tonight and read lots of books. It was a good night. Now Mommy is blogging and watching American Idol.

June Bug & Maizey

Adam went to a bachelor party in Memphis this weekend, so Alex and I headed to Nana and Papa's house to help take care of Nana. She had carpel tunnel and elbow surgery last Tuesday. We helped her pack her bags because Nana and Papa left on Sunday for Denver, CO for a Rural Electric conference. Alex completely enjoyed looking at the kitties!! He kept saying kitty, kitty, kitty. He really loved riding the horse and started perfecting his piano playing skills.
