Capitol Bound

 

 

 

It's the last day of regularly scheduled session, and it's my scheduled day in the office so the kids are coming with me!  They are super excited and loved getting dressed up to come to the Capitol.  They made their rounds and got their fill of candy before Daddy and came and picked them up.  Alex even decided that the State needed more money and in order to do that we need to be selling lemonade and hot dogs.  At this point the State is $4 billion over budget so every little bit will help.  Let's give it a try!!!

Baby girl is still not feeling well.  Yesterday, her fever was even higher so Adam stayed home with her and called the Dr's office back.   After looking at her chest x-ray (which they said was one of the worst ones they had ever seen quality wise) it was decided to treat her like she has pneumonia.  They really didn't want to have to do another chest x-ray on her.  So now she is on an antibiotic and hopefully on the mend.  Her fever has broke today, so that's a start!

Today was Wild Hair Wednesday at school!  I think Alex pulled off the look very nicely!

Page for a Day

 

A few weeks ago, Gabbi's 7th grade class came on a field trip to the Capitol.  I arranged for them to come to the Senate floor, etc.  They were told about the page program and Gabbi thought it sounded fun.  So, I was able to bring her today to take part in a day at the Illinois State Senate.  She spent some time on the Senate floor with Senator Andy Manar, who is a good friend of ours.  Gabbi was even able to vote a few times for Andy.  She really seemed to enjoy herself and I think she learned a thing or two as well.  It was nice to spend the day with her. 

Happy 4th Birthday Amelia Marie!

Alex has worked for several days at school on this picture for Amelia's birthday.  It says. "Amelia I have mayd this for you.  Love Alex Kershaw."   It has four flowers and four butterflies drawn on it since today is her 4th birthday.  He also drew a butterfly on her shirt and put lipstick on her.  Can this be any sweeter???

 

Today is your 4th Birthday Amelia!!  It really seems like yesterday we were going to the hospital to have you.  You are such a beautiful girl who is soooo loud, loving, bossy, and hard headed.  Yep, you are pretty much your mother!!!  I know we will butt heads and get in plenty of arguments as you get older, but I want you to know how much I love you and how proud of you I am.  You are an amazing sister and you will be a great mom some day.  As I sit here and type this I really am at a loss for words.  You are so incredible and I just wish you would stay little forever.  But when I tell you that, you always tell me "No!!! I'm getting bigger and bigger Momma." 

We started the morning off with donuts from Casey's and presents.  Amelia ended up with new bedding and curtains, a Frozen t-shirt, and new dolls for her brand new top of the line made with love Daddy original 3 story dollhouse!  Amelia loves it, but Daddy had the bigger smile on his face.  He worked so hard on it and it turned out amazing.  It will be a piece we keep forever!

  

We took homemade sugar cookies to school.  Then celebrated with dinner uptown at Bella Trattoria with Uncle Thomas, Gabbi, and Thomas.  We then headed to the park for Alex's ball game.  We only got 1/2 an inning in before the storms came (Alex did get a good hit).  That's ok that just left us more time to go home and sing Happy Birthday and eat brownies and ice cream!

I think Amelia would tell you she had a splendid day.  (It's a fancy word she likes to say!)

Oldest & Youngest Cousins

 

After we finished up at the Dr's office we headed to Jacksonville to pick up Gabbi.  She is going to be a Page for the day tomorrow for the Senate.  Tonight she's just cuddling with her cousin.

Fever

Her fever keeps getting higher and higher.  I've called the Dr to see if I can switch between Tylenol and Motrin.  They want to see her to make sure her wheeziness isn't turning into something more serious.  

Ada ended up having to get another chest x-ray today.  We are waiting for the results, but they say she is extremely congested and wheezy.  Watching your child in lockdown for the x-ray is brutal.  Today Ada was so lethargic she could barely muster up the tears to cry.  She looked at me with such desperation.  It breaks a Momma's heart!  They also did a strep test just to make sure that wasn't a possibility since Alex has recently had it, but that came back negative.

Right now it's just trying to keep her fever under control and push the fluids.  That's pretty hard when I can't get her to nurse.  The girl loves to nurse so I know she's down and out when that isn't even appealing.

 

Earpiece

Alex uses one of his barricades from his construction site as a phone ear piece.  It cracks me up every time he does it!  We don't even use blue tooth so I'm not for sure where he gets it from!

Poor Baby

Cindy said she wasn't herself today at daycare and was very clingy.  When I picked her up she felt a little warm.  She's got a fever and is sleeping terribly this evening. It's going to be a long night I fear.

Chicagoland

I love that the Meehan family is in constant communication via text message.  Uncle Jacob kept us up to date on the latest family happenings while Thomas and the kids were visiting.  Looks like they had a great time.  Gabbi's competition was good and they received several awards!!

VROOOOM

Uncle Thomas and the kids stopped by on their way home from Chicago.  Gabbi had a dance competition and they spent some time visiting with Uncle Jacob. 

All Smiles

Daddy, Alex, and Amelia are down a few blocks helping the Kunz's move into their rental house while their new house is being built.  Ada and I are just enjoying the front porch.  We were sure there was going to be some rain, but some how we've avoided it.  There's been plenty of rain lately that's for sure.  So glad we have a covered porch to enjoy even when it's a little rainy out, but not today!!! 

Later in the afternoon Ada and I headed down to check out the new pad and tried to help unpack a little.  Only so much you can do when you've got a baby on your hip.  This afternoon she took several naps and didn't quite seem like herself.  Sure hoping she's just super tired and not getting sick again!!!

A Mother's Dream

Adam and I were doing some work outside and I come in the house to find this. . . the kids were looking for something and ended up thinking the couch was dirty so they hauled in the vacuum cleaner and were going to town.  If this isn't a dream come true!!!  God love my little helpers!!!
