Big Diggers

Since we've had all the rain that caused our sump pump to fail, we've found out part of the problem was some sewer lines collapsing.  We've had big diggers in front of our house and the road all torn up.  Alex loves it!!!

And All is Perfect

As long as Amelia is in her swing, she has not  worry in the world.  And Briggsy loves hanging out with us.  Wish every minute of our lives could be this care free!!!

Washington Park

Today Daddy headed to Iowa to see one of his former football players play baseball for the Iowa Hawkeyes.  Nick Roscetti is a freshman, and starts as their short stop.  The guys were pretty excited to know somebody playing for a Big 10 school.  Since Daddy was out having fun, we decided to get a little fun in before the rain started up again.  We came into Springfield, and went to Washington Park.  We fed the ducks, ran around, and had a picnic.  We ended up eating in the car because it started to sprinkle.  That didn't dampen the excitement of the picnic.  It stopped raining long enough for us to get a little playtime in on the playground.  

Then we headed home and had a good nap!  We played, went to mass, and out to eat at the Huddle House.  Alex has been wanting to go eat there for a few weeks now, so he was super excited to eat his big waffle with the HH on it for Huddle House. So much so, that he ate all of his and some of Amelia's!

Alex said he had to go potty, and was going to drop his drawers right on the spot!

Impromptu Gathering

The best way to start a weekend is with an impromptu gathering of friends and drinks.  Alex was the photographer of the pictures of the adults.  I must say he did a pretty good job.  I jokingly took a picture of Alex and Elyse playing with a baby doll saying they could emulate this for real years down the road.  Aaron did not find any humor in it.  I thought at least gatherings with the in-laws would always be super fun if we were related by marriage!!!  If nothing else, we are pretty sure Amelia and Elyse are going to be the mean girls.  Watch out world!

Lincoln Park

Tonight Daddy and Uncle Tony are headed to Champaign to watch Dawes and Bob Dylan in concert.  Daddy brought the kids to Mommy at work before he left, so we took advantage of being in Springfield and stopped at Lincoln Park for a little play time.

Cute but Crabby

Amelia spent most of this weekend being crabby.  She was tolerable at times, but she just didn't seem to be 100%.  We sent her to daycare today, and got a call after lunch saying she has a rash all over her and that she really hadn't ate that day.  After discussions with Nurse Emily we decided to bring her in for a strep test. She did have a red throat, but her test came back negative.  One of her ears was so gunked up with ear wax that they couldn't see her tube or her eardrum.  After some digging and lots of screaming and crying Dr. Veronica still couldn't see anything but wax.  

Sounds like we may need to make an appointment with the ENT to get her ears cleaned out.  Yeah, that's going to be really fun.  We'll wait until summer and let Daddy do that one!  We decided to wait and see if she continued to feel bad or was it just a case of the Mondays!  Regardless, the girl can rock a pair of shades can't she?

She Just Can't Get Enough

Yard Work

Today was yard work day.  We picked up lots of sticks, used our leaf blowers, cleaned out flower beds, and mowed the yard.  Alex loves helping his Daddy.  He has a love for yard work like his Papa Meehan!! Mommy picked up sticks while she pushed Amelia in her swing.  She seriously can't get enough of her swing.

First Movie Theater Experience

Today, we headed to Lincoln so the kids could experience their first movie theater experience.  We went and saw The Croods.  The kids did wonderful.  Of course, we made it through the first part of the movie easily with popcorn and lemonade.  We had a rough 15-20 minute stint when Amelia pooped, Alex needed to pee, and we needed popcorn refill, followed by the spilling of the newly refilled lemonade.  After that they sat and enjoyed the rest of the movie.  The whole event went exceptionally well, and we will definitely do it again.  Alex is really looking forward to going this summer and seeing Monster's University.

Loving Life

We're loving life this Saturday, just driving gators and swinging on the swing.  We love this weather.  Hope it sticks around!
