Fireworks

I asked Alex to give me his 'excited for fireworks smile.'

This evening we headed to Williamsville Park for their annual fireworks.  We had some time to kill before it got dark so the kids played at the park.  It's something they love to do and it never seems to get old.  As it got closer to dark we headed down the trail to Mr. G's house to watch the fireworks.  He wasn't home, but told us to hang out in his yard.  The Kunz's came too.  Amelia wasn't for sure of the fireworks. She liked them, but thought they were loud.  We were pretty close and it seemed to make her a little nervous so she jumped from my lap, to Dad's lap, to Liz and Elyse.  Williamsville sure does put on quite a good show!  I love fireworks!!

Playing with Friends

Today we were supposed to be having a pool party with friends, but it was rainy and not that warm out.  We didn't let it stop us from getting together and having some drinks and food.  Uncle Thomas and Aunt Amy stayed at our house with the kids and then later in the evening we were supposed to switch so they could go out to dinner.  We ended up having them bring the kids down to the Larson's and they played together while we continued to visit and have fun.  A good day for all us!

Scooby Dooby Doo--LIVE

Scooby Doo and the Mystery Machine made an appearance at the Lincoln Land Community College car show.  We knew the kids would enjoy it, so we invited Thomas David and his family to come along.  The adults decided car shows were really lame and we were glad we didn't have to pay to get in.  The kids loved seeing Scooby, so it was worth the drive across town.  Amelia was a little unsure Scooby, but she did like the one that didn't move around that was in the van.  She was intrigued by Scooby's 'pony' which was actually his tail.

Mmmmm Breakfast Time

This morning Daddy made us breakfast.  He cooked cinnamon rolls in the waffle maker and used the icing like syrup.  It was easy and yummy.  Thanks Aunt Sara and Pinterest for the idea.

Solider Field

We parked at the Solider Field parking garage, so we took a few minutes to check out Solider Field from the outside and the Veteran's Memorial.  It was really cool.  Of course the kids loved playing in the water.  Alex was really bummed we didn't get to see the field the Bears play on.  Someday buddy someday.  

We had a fantastic stay-cation in good 'ol Illinois.  There's actually lots more fun things to do in Chicago.  We may just have to plan another trip!

Shedd Aquarium

This morning Uncle Jacob met us at our hotel and we walked down the block to grab some breakfast at Starbucks.  Then we headed to Shedd Aquarium.  Today all Illinois residents got in free.  YAY!!!  We had fun looking at all the fish, snakes, and frogs.  The kids enjoyed playing in the gift shop as much as anything.  We had lunch on the patio overlooking the lake. After lunch the kids were hitting the wall and we wanted to get on the road before we hit rush hour traffic.  We gave Uncle Jacob hugs and kisses and then headed to the car.  Garrett popcorn was the perfect snack for the ride home.  YUM!!!
