A Freezing Finale

All good things must come to an end, and yesterday the Bullet's football season came to an end. We lost to Maroa-Forsyth 13-6. The boys battled hard, and truly left their hearts on the field. They have so much to be proud of, making to the Quarter-Finals is something WHS hasn't done in 20 years!!!

The weather was brutal!!! The wind was blowing about 25 mph and boy was it chilly!!! Alex's little eyes were watering before we even made it to the field. He wasn't a very happy camper at all. He ended up hunkering down underneath a blanket while laying on my chest and snoozed for pretty much the first half. Grandma came and visited at half time and took him to get some popcorn which entertained him for the 3rd quarter, but he was hunkered down again for the 4th quarter. He was such a little trooper. I could hear him under the covers yelling GO GO GO!!! The little man loves football!!! We're awful thankful that this was the only bad weather we endured this season!!! Now all our football attention goes to the Chicago Bears!!!!

Pep Rally!!

The school had a Pep Rally on Thursday prior to the Maroa-Forsyth game. Alex and Seth had a good time playing and cheering for the Bullets while the team finished up practice before the Pep Rally.

Mission Accomplished!!

The one loss we had this year in football was to Auburn, by two little points!!!! We had a chance at redemption on Saturday when we played Auburn in the Sweet Sixteen of the 2010 playoffs. It was an absolutely gorgeous day and the game ended in a 31-15 victory for the Bullets!!! It was all smiles for the entire Bullet team and coaching staff, and Mommy and Alex too!!!

We had what I thought was the coaches and their families over for a celebration and it ended up being a small frat party with close to 40 or 50 people there!! Craziness!! It's so great to have a home we can celebrate in and share with friends!!! This Saturday we play Maroa-Forsyth at home!! Go Bullets!!!

Playoffs Baby!!!

Saturday was the first round of the football playoffs for the Bullets!! It was a fairly nice day, but a tad windy!! We were able to pull off a pretty handy victory against the Beardstown Tigers by a score of 30-11. We head to Auburn next Saturday!! It's going to be a good one folks!!! GO BULLETS!!

Last Week of Football

Tonight was Daddy's last JV football game, and Friday is the last regular season game. We're lucky enough to have a winning record, so we'll see this weekend when and where we play our game next week. Tonight Grandma & Grandpa Kershaw came and picked Alex up to take him out to dinner and then to the football game. Alex has really been loving on Daddy lately and giving him such big squeezes, unfortunately he won't give the same love to Mommy!! Boo!

Pre-Game

Thursday night's pre-game tradition not only involves team dinner, but stocking the fridge with cold tasty beverages for post-game activities!! Alex always enjoys helping Daddy with this task!!! He's really started to play pretend in the last few weeks and he loves to pretend drink from cans and bottles.

We Got the Silver Bucket!!

Yes, the Bullet's pulled off another win against the New Berlin Pretzels to keep the Silver Bucket in our possession, and it was Homecoming!!! We won 28-7!! I didn't blog about our close loss to Auburn last week. It was a heartbreaker, we lost by 2 little points!! BOO!!

Alex was excited to sport his new shirt that Great Aunt Jody made for him!!! I'm so happy with how it turned out!! She did great work!!! Unfortunately, Alex didn't make it through the whole game so I didn't get to take pictures of him with the Silver Bucket until later in the week. It's crazy to think the little guy fit in it last year and this year he's just a little bit too big!! What a difference a year makes!!!

Homecoming Parade

Tonight was the annual WHS Homecoming Parade. Alex & Mommy were able to walk to the end of the block and watch it! Alex got entirely too much candy considering he never gets to eat it. I did let him have his first sucker tonight, and he really enjoyed it. He pretty much ate it like a pro!! Alex enjoyed the parade, and was not at all phased by the extremely loud fire truck sirens! After the parade was done we headed down the football field, where we pretty much watched the parade again, and then watched the pep rally. It's tradition for the cheerleaders to make up rhymes for the Senior players and this year they even made one up for Daddy and Alex got a shout out too!!

We sure missed waving at Daddy on the fire engine with the football coaches and boys, but he was at Benedictine University tonight teaching class. Daddy sure is super busy these days and we sure do miss him. We're so thankful he works so hard for us!! Hopefully he'll be rewarded with a win this Friday night against the Pretzels!!!

Friday Night Football!!

Friday night the Bullets headed down the road to play the Riverton Hawks! Alex had a rough day at daycare and took a nap when he got home, so we were late getting to the game then there was no place to park!! Then when we got there I had to go to the concession stand to get hotdogs for our supper, so by the time we started watching the game we were almost finished with the first half!! Alex was pretty clinging and anti-social so I gave him some Tylenol and that seemed to help. The only way we could get smiles out of him was to take him up to the fence so that he could see all the football action. There was plenty of action to watch because the Bullets won 24-7!!

I ended up figuring out on Saturday the reason he was so fussy is because he has molars starting to come in. Not a pleasant experience for the little man!! We've been battling the teeth all weekend and as I write this he has a fever and is just not feeling well at all. Sure hope those nasty things come in quick and we get our smiley happy boy back!

Bullets Win!!!

Last night the Bullets kicked of their season opener against the Gillespie Miner's (Nana's alma mater) with a 26-16 win!! The weather was beautiful, but we know that by the end of the season will be shivering in our boots!! Alex played in the rocks and hung out with Grandma & Grandpa Kershaw for a little while too. He insisted on being held for a big part of the game, by only Mommy of course. He was so tired considering he goes to bed at 8:00 every night, but there was no chance he was going to go to sleep and miss a minute of the action! The good thing is he slept in until 10:00 this morning. It was even better considering Mommy & Daddy were up until almost 2:00 am with the coaches and their wives. As they all say, the best part of the football week is the 3 hours (even though it's usually more like 5 or 6) after the game!!!
