18 Weeks Pregnant

In the last few weeks my belly has blossomed, so I figured we better start documenting the growing process. Of course, Alex had to have his picture taken too. He kept saying 'cheese' until we took his picture. I can't wait to see what kind of big brother he's going to be!!

The last several weeks I have periodically felt a flutter from the baby, but in the last several days I felt it a lot more consistently. Mommy knows you are in there little one!! I know Daddy is excited to feel you moving around too!!

Big Boy Bed

As if we didn't have a big enough day playing in the snow, but we had to make it even more exciting by turning Alex's crib into a toddler bed. He's a big boy now!!!! He slept all night and didn't get out of bed until Daddy went and got him this morning. Where has our baby gone????

1st Haircut!!

Last night Alex got his very first haircut by Cara who cuts my hair too. Momma wasn't ready for it to be done because I didn't want to lose those pretty little curls, but Daddy said the mullet needed to go!! We were completely amazed at how well Alex did. He sat right up in the chair like a big boy the entire time. Towards the end he was a little restless, but we gave him a sucker and he was good to go again!!! We saved a few little curls to commemorate the event!! Doesn't he look like such a grown boy now?!?!? Where has my baby gone??

Look Who's Walking Now!!

Yesterday out of the blue Alex decided to stand up in the middle of the room with no help and take about 7 steps! He's done it several times since then too!! I knew it was all a matter of him deciding to do it and it seems as if he's decided it's time! He still prefers scooting as you can see from the video but that's OK!! One step at a time!! YAY Alex!!!!

My First Words

Alex signed his first official word last night. . . Dog!!! Briggs came into the house and Alex slapped his leg and said dog, dog, dog!!! I was soooo excited. I've been doing this for the last week or two, but didn't know if he was paying attention or not!! He has though!!!! So, now we'll keep trying new words and see if he catches on. He also has been saying kitty, kitty, kitty. He really became obsessed with Aunt Sara and Uncle Travis's cats a few weeks ago. I haven't been able to break the bad news to Alex the he will NEVER have a cat as long as he lives in our house!! They creep me out terribly!! So here's to many more signing adventures!!

The Stitches are Out!

Here's a picture of Alex's finger before we went to the Dr yesterday to get his stitches out. Two had fallen out on their own, and one was hanging by a thread (no pun intended!!) So really there was only two that had to be taken out. Of course, Alex screamed and cried but it really didn't hurt him. The nurse saved the 3 remaining stitches for us to put in Alex's baby book. We need to keep it bandaged up for a few more days and then we should be good to go!! While we were there we went ahead and got a flu shot too!! Hear's hoping 2010 is a healthy one!!

More Presents!!

Alex had a great Christmas on the Kershaw side too!! We celebrated the day after Christmas, so it was nice not to have to run from one family event to another. Alex made out like a bandit!! Gramma and Grandpa spoiled Alex like crazy! He ended up with blocks, lots of books, trucks, a cookie jar block game, a pair of boots, a few cute outfits, and a savings bond. Not too bad for a first Christmas!!

In the midst of all of the Christmas fun, we also made quite a discovery. Alex is getting his first tooth! He has one tooth poking through his the front of his bottom gums. Only 19 more to go!

Alex is finally feeling better!! He was so happy this morning and was enjoying some face time with himself this morning while Mommy got dressed. I sat him in front of a full length mirror in the closet, and he ended up getting his finger stuck in between the trim and the mirror. Luckily I was right there to get his finger out, but not fast enough. He was bleeding profusely and screaming his head off. This happened on his left hand, so sucking his 2 fingers wasn't an option. He won't suck his right hand, and wasn't interested in a pacifier. Adam was headed out the door, but we were able to catch him. We called the Dr's office and they said we needed to go to the ER. So, Adam says alright let's go. I say (in my bra and underwear), I need to get dressed first. He thought that was a good idea!!

We made it to the ER and they took us right in. Alex had to get weighed, measured, and his temperature taken and then we were escorted to a room. We were taken care of quickly by a nurse, then a Dr came in and told us he did indeed need stitches. He thought probably two. They gave Alex a shot to numb his hand and then had to put him on a board and strap him down. This was too much for Mom to handle, so we headed to the waiting room. It took less than 5 minutes, and it took 5 stitches to fix his finger up. The Dr. said it was worse than what he had originally thought, and that the top portion of his finger was almost completely cut off!!

Alex is doing exceptionally well. He's napped a few times and had a wonderful play date with his Uncle Jacob today. We go back in the morning for a recheck. We then have to go to Dr. Veronica in 10 days to get the stitches removed.

This little boy is a trooper and all in all handled it very well!! Thank God he won't remember this event. It was much more tragic for Mommy than Alex. I will note that I maintained composure until we were driving to the hospital. A small break down was had, and then Mommy put her brave face back on. As Nana said, this will be one of many trips to the ER!!!

6 Months Old!!

Seriously, how can my precious little baby boy be 6 months old already?! It's amazing how much you've changed since you came into our life 6 short months ago. You're eating like a big boy (a really big boy), you are talking (babbling) up a storm, and your laugh is infectious! Your starting to cuddle and give great hugs!! You 're going to be a heart breaker with your big old blue eyes! You sure don't miss a thing, you are constantly checking everything out!! You've started to sit up on your own and have begun to take interest in Briggs. You love to go on walks in the stroller and have a knack for knowing whether or not Mommy and Daddy are standing up or sitting down with you when you are crabby! You've been sleeping sooo good and the last few nights you've slept all night. Mommy and Daddy can't imagine life without you. I hope when you're older you realize how very much we love you!! We talk all the time about how we still can't believe you are here and just how awesome you are!! Happy 6 month Birthday Bugga!!

5 Months Old!!

Alex is 5 months old today!!! The time is seriously flying by so fast!! It's unbelievable how much you continue to grow and change. In the last month you've had your first ear infection and antibiotics, you started eating baby food, you've found your toes, love to blow bubbles, and your even getting a little hair on that bald head! Not to mention you are a true Mama's boy!! All such big milestones in your little life. You truly are a blessing and Mommy and Daddy love you sooo very much!!

Achy Ear

All weekend Alex was kind of grumpy. On Friday night I thought it was because I had him so bundled up for the football game. (We don't want to talk about the game because we lost and the playing conditions were terrible!!) Saturday night he only wanted his Mom when we were the Surratt's and Sunday he wasn't very happy either. Alex was also constipated on Sunday, so I had to go to the pharmacy and get suppositories for him. They worked like a charm!!

On Monday I got a call from the daycare saying Alex was running a 100.5 temp, fussy, wouldn't sleep and wasn't taking his bottle. I went and picked him up, took him home, and called the Doctor. He fell asleep on Mommy and did that for most of the evening. He slept pretty good that night, and we got up and went to the Dr. in the morning. After weighing it at 18lbs 10 oz, the Physician's Assistant, Tracy came in and checked Alex out. She had to dig lots of wax out of his right ear, and then determined that he did indeed have an ear infection. Daddy had a lot of ear infections growing up and so did Mommy's brothers. I'm thinking this is going to be an ongoing problem!! So, we then made a trip to the pharmacy for our first prescription and got some Amoxicillin. He slept a good part of the day (and so did I), but I did manage to get all the clothes that he has outgrown packed up and ready to be stored until another little baby comes (it's going to be a while folks!!)

Alex seems to be feeling better and is taking his medicine like a champ. He had even managed to poop up his back by the time I got him to daycare this morning!! Oh the joys of parenthood!!

I've Got Feet!!

Alex has recently discovered that he has feet. He tries grabbing them all the time, but hasn't tried putting them in his mouth yet. It's so fun to watch him discover new things!!

Time to Eat!!

Yesterday Alex had his first ever cereal!! He ate like a champ. He quickly got the hang of opening his mouth and swallowing! We hope this trend continues. He ate again today with no problems either. We'll try this out for a few weeks and then we'll start trying some vegetables. Our little man really isn't going to be little anymore once he gets going with all the food eating business!

Rollover, Rollover!!

Alex rolled from his back to his belly today!! What a big boy!! Now that he can roll both ways, I'm a little worried. We're going to have a real mover and shaker on our hands before long!

Please pardon the nakedness. We're fighting a bad case of diaper rash and were just trying to air things out a bit. Of course, I didn't have the camera for the first rollover attempt, but managed to get shots of the second one. I helped him over a little bit the second time in order to get all the pictures I need for documentation sake!!

Rollover, Rollover!!

A huge milestone today. . . Alex rolled over all by himself. I thought he was going to do it earlier today, but it just wasn't happening. I knew Daddy was going to be upset because he was at football and might have missed it. When Adam got home I was telling him how I thought he was going to roll over, so we tried it again and low and behold it did it!! Of course, I didn't have the camera then so I ran and got it and we tried it again and he did it again!! As you can tell I have a play by play through photos!! YEAH for Alex!!!

Bullets Win, Bullets Win!! We beat the Gillespie Miners 49-24!! A great way to start the season off. Alex was a little skeptical of this whole football thing. First of all, who wears jeans and jackets to the first football game of the season in August?! It was crazy!! The wind was blowing and the announcer was really loud (yes, louder than Mom!) and it was a little too much for Alex. He spent a good portion of the game all covered up underneath a blanket. But all in all a good experience!!
