Chillin with my Daddy!

Yesterday I came home from work and Daddy and Alex were chillin' on the couch watching ESPN on the big screen. Life is good for my boys!! They're trying to get a bit more bonding time in before Daddy officially starts school on Monday! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!

Blessed Baptism

Last night Alex was baptized at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Sherman by Father Carl Kemme. We had so many friends and family come to share in his special day. Alex truly is a blessed child and we are so glad to officially welcome him into the church and God's loving arms.

Alex's baptismal gown was made from Nana's wedding dress and has been worn by both cousins, Gabbi and Thomas. We plan to have all the grandchildren baptized in the same gown. It's a little girly because when my Mom had it made she was only thinking of Gabbi using it, so we are going to work on getting rid of a few frills for the next baby who will wear it. Nobody ever said family traditions were easy to follow. Alex, I promise you this will be the only time in your life I'll make you wear a gown!!

The picture of Alex by himself was taken today because Alex was a little fussy yesterday and didn't really want to cooperate. I think he was overwhelmed with all the people around and Mommy and Daddy running around like crazy trying to make his day perfect!! Needless to say he's in a much better mood today.

Surprise Baby Shower!!!

As you can tell from all my posts, today was a very busy day!! I had a lot to do at work today since I'm taking the next two days off, and the last thing I wanted to do was go sit in on a capital bill meeting today. Well, as it turns out it wasn't a meeting at all but a Surprise Baby Shower!!!! I couldn't believe it! They had a cake and lots of presents for me. It really just made my day and was a great way to end my work week!! I truly have some great co-workers and they really proved it today.

We received gift cards to Target and Gymboree, hangers, bibs, onesies, blankets, rattles and toys, a little teddy bear, 2 really cute little outfits, and a pair of jeans and sweatshirt (perfect for football season) from Baby GAP!

Thanks again everyone!! I truly appreciate your generosity!!!!

29 Weeks Pregnant

At this point it may be more appropriate to be counting down the weeks instead of counting up. So, I'm 29 weeks pregnant, or in other words 11 more weeks to go. My belly feels like it continues to grow. Trista and I went to lunch on Monday and she said it's the first time she's seen me that I actually looked pregnant (obviously we don't see each other enough!!) I was talking to the baby the other night and to Adam. We were discussing how we waited so long for this baby, and now time is running out before we get to meet this new one and we have so much to get done! It's really amazing how fast time has gone.

We went to Lowe's on Monday night. I think we have a paint color with a crazy name picked out. Adam thinks it would be fun to have the job of picking out paint names. He just named the baby's room color "Scrumptious Morning Dew." Yeah, see he'd be good at it. So anyway, the hope at this point is to get the painting done in the next week or two and then lay carpet over Adam's spring break. That also means we need to go pick out carpet, but I don't know when I'll have time for that. It's 3rd Reading deadline next week at work, so it's going to be long and crazy all week long.

Other than that, things have been going well. My back hurts occasionally, but that comes with the territory. My hamstrings feel like they always need to be stretched. Adam stretches them in the morning and at night for me. It hurts, but feels so good! As a matter of fact, I think it's time to get ready for bed and have my evening stretches right now!!

Can't Sleep!!!!!!

It's been another busy session week. I always look forward to the weekend when I can catch up on some sleep and sleep in, plus get ready for another crazy week at the IL Senate. Adam and I went out to eat last night at Darcy's with Aaron & Liz, and came home around 10:30. Went to bed a little after 11:00 and fell right to sleep. Of course I woke up at 2:30 to go to the bathroom, because yes our lovely unborn child is back on my bladder again, and I haven't been back to sleep since!!! I am so annoyed!! I laid in bed for 2 hours then decided to get up. I've dusted and picked up the basement, but don't want to be too loud and wake Adam up. So, now I'm just hanging out on the computer. Think I'm going to go upstairs and dust anyway!! I guess this is just getting me used to what will be one of many sleepless nights!

100 Days & Counting

Can you believe we only have 100 days until the newest family member of our family arrives, or thereabouts?! Depends on if this child shows up on time or not, but for all intents and purposes we're looking at 100 days and counting!!

It truly is amazing how fast time has flown by. Over the weekend the baby started making it's presence known a bit more and is kicking hard enough that we can see my belly moving on the outside. In case you were wondering, the baby has moved away from my bladder making Mom in a much better mood. I visit the bathroom less often now! As you can tell my belly is getting bigger and bigger. I can only imagine what 100 more days of growing will bring. Just keep praying for no stretch marks!!!

Some people have asked if we've registered yet. We did that a few weeks ago. I know us girls love to be nosy, so you can check out Target and Babies R Us to see what all we've registered for.

Bladder & Bedding

This baby is killing me these days. It literally is kicking me right in the bladder. I know they say you pee more, but this is out of control. I didn't think the baby could be kicking me as low as it is, but somehow it's managing to do a very fine job of making Momma very uncomfortable. I told Adam the other night that I was almost willing to stand on my head to try to make the baby move into a new position. I didn't, but it is still a possiblility. Don't know how much longer I can handle, but then again I don't really have much choice.

Sunday we went to Adam's parents house for lunch and was able to get the baby's bedding. I love it so much!! Now we just have to get the junk out of the room, paint, clean carpets, and assemble furniture!! One step at a time. Thank God Adam has a week off for Spring Break in April. He has a lot to get finished!!

Other than that, things are GREAT!!!

A Little of Everything

Well, there was no blogging last week. I had the flu and work was crazy. Every night when I got home I pretty much immediately fell asleep on the couch. I was a bad wife, and Adam had to fend for himself as far as dinner was concerned all last week. I'll try and make up for it this week, but we'll see. By the time I get home after a crazy session day, I can barely keep my eyes open let alone think about cooking dinner. I lived on buttered egg noodles last week.

Never fear though, I'm feeling back in full swing this week. Yesterday my nephew, Thomas David V was baptized in Jacksonville, along with his cousin Alexis.There was a lunch afterwards, and I more than made up for what I hadn't ate in the last week. I had two full plates of food, and literally ate for two!!! Turkey, cheesy potatoes, green beans, salad, and rolls. Oh, and don't forget the cake! (So, Thomas David isn't too happy in this picture. He was ready for lunch too!!!) I go to the Dr. next week so we'll see how much of this eating has caught up with me weight wise. My belly is growing for sure. I'll work on getting another picture up later this week.

We ordered the baby's bedroom furniture last week. It should be here on Thursday. I'm pretty excited to see it, but don't think we will put it all together until after we paint the room. In order to do that I have to pick out bedding, which I think I have!! But I'll then have to wait until after my shower to paint when we get the bedding to make sure the paint matches, etc. It's a vicious cycle. Maybe we can convince one of the baby's grandparents to buy the bedding early!! Hint Hint: to Grandma or Nana!! Just a thought!

First Movements for Daddy

Ok, so Molly wanted me to get on here and write this post so that I could "document the experience" of feeling the baby move for the first time. Last night, as we were watching American Idol, she asked me to come over and put my hand on her stomach. At first I didn't feel anything, but after a few minutes I noticed a slight little flutter. It happened so quickly that I wasn't even sure if I'd really felt something. Then, a few minutes later, baby yet to be named (as Travis calls him/her) gave me a good solid kick. I have to say, it was a pretty incredible experience. Molly has been telling me about the movements, and, of course, I have watched the baby on the sonograms, but to actually feel a living little body inside of her stomach was completely different. It's just one more little sign of a process I can only describe as miraculous. I'm not sure how anyone can go through this and not believe in God. It's all simply too amazing.

Anyway, Molly is doing well. She's had some trouble sleeping off and on, but overall she's been a real trooper--especially with working long hours for both the inauguration and the ongoing impeechment. Through it all, she's done very little complaining, and (with the exception of a few wild hormonal shifts) has had a great attitude. It's a good thing women go through this and not men, we'd probably never be able to handle it. I guess that's all. I'm sure Molly will be posting back again sometime soon.

Half Way There!!

Today marks Week 20, also known as the half way point of the pregnancy. It truly doesn't seem like we're already half way there, but we are. This really makes me a bit nervous. It seems like we have so much to do before our little one gets here. I know it'll be OK, but it all seems so surreal. I'm adding a new picture of my growing belly. My dad says no more belly shots, but it's necessary Dad. This is part of history for our baby. It's a great way to document this whole experience. It's a reminder of how far we've come on our journey of trying for a baby.

On a different note. . . my appetite came into full swing yesterday. I came home from work and started cooking. We had baked pork chops and mashed potatoes. It was delicious. I really wanted chocolate chip cookies, but we didn't have any on hand. I settled for a rootbeer float. Adam offered several times to go get me cookies, but I just didn't want to be the pregnant wife that has my husband running all over taking care of his wife's crazy food cravings. So instead I went to the grocery store tonight before my haircut and bought break and bake cookies, cookie mix, and some Nutter Butters. I think that craving will now be very well taken care of. So, I won't be surprised if at the next Dr.'s appointment I've gained a pound or two.

One other thing I wanted to mention for records keeping sake, is that I went to Chicago on Friday for work. I was lucky enough to be able to take the State plane so it was only a day trip. But I wanted to have record of the baby's first plane ride per se. The baby was doing a lot of moving around during the trip until I put on my iPod, and then it pretty much chilled out. Crazy how the baby can hear all these different things. Guess we're going to have to start watching what we say!! :)

First Baby Movements

Yesterday and today I keep feeling this little fluttering/kicking in my lower abdomen. I'm thinking it might be the baby letting me know that it is alive and well. It's a pretty weird feeling, but since I've never felt a baby move before I'm not 100% sure that is what I'm feeling. The fact that I've felt it more than one day in a row makes me think that little baby movements are what I'm feeling. Just a few more weeks and we'll be half way through!! Amazing isn't it?!
