Blessed Baptism

Last night Alex was baptized at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Sherman by Father Carl Kemme. We had so many friends and family come to share in his special day. Alex truly is a blessed child and we are so glad to officially welcome him into the church and God's loving arms.

Alex's baptismal gown was made from Nana's wedding dress and has been worn by both cousins, Gabbi and Thomas. We plan to have all the grandchildren baptized in the same gown. It's a little girly because when my Mom had it made she was only thinking of Gabbi using it, so we are going to work on getting rid of a few frills for the next baby who will wear it. Nobody ever said family traditions were easy to follow. Alex, I promise you this will be the only time in your life I'll make you wear a gown!!

The picture of Alex by himself was taken today because Alex was a little fussy yesterday and didn't really want to cooperate. I think he was overwhelmed with all the people around and Mommy and Daddy running around like crazy trying to make his day perfect!! Needless to say he's in a much better mood today.

Sound Sleeping

Last night Alex went to bed at 11:00 pm and slept until 5:00 am!! Six hours, I couldn't believe it!! He ate and went back to sleep and then slept until 9:00 am. He woke up and ate and then went right back to sleep. We were meeting Nana, Great Aunt Laura, and Aunt Amy for lunch at Saputo's to celebrate both Aunt's birthdays. I had to wake Alex up at 11:00 am to get him dressed. He sure was a tired boy today. I'm hoping this sleeping trend continues, but I'm not going to hold my breath!!

After lunch we went to the County Building and picked up Alex's official birth certificate to have on hand. Mommy got a parking ticket too! We then headed to Mommy's office to get her pay check. She had to get a paper check and not direct deposit because of the legislature not passing a budget on time. Thank goodness something was finally passed! We visited with lots of people at work and then headed home. Daddy was wondering what had happened to us because we were gone a long time. That's OK though because he was working on writing his novel, and he has to have a first draft to his professor by the beginning of August.

Nana and Papa are in town for a retreat for Rural Electric. We went and visited them for a little while, then came home and went for a walk. Now we are just hanging out at home. Mommy is trying to fill out some of the baby book, but Alex is pretty fussy.

Wednesdays with Manda

Manda has been taking two summer classes, so every Wednesday she comes over to hang out with Alex and Mommy. The last couple weeks she hasn't been able to, but I still wanted to post about their visits, and the picture is too cute not to share! We're hoping that Manda has a lot more visits with Alex than Mitch had with Morrie! If you don't understand the reference you should read Tuesdays with Morrie, it's an absolutely fabulous book!

"Thrilled" with Alex

On the 4th of July we hung out with friends, including the Kunz family. Seth entertained us with his version of the "Thriller" dance. This seemed fitting since our beloved Michael Jackson has recently passed on. We also captured a picture of little dude with our little man. For those of you that don't know Adam calls Seth 'little dude' because Seth calls Adam 'Dude'. For example when he comes and visits us he comes to Dude and Molly's house. Such a loving term of endearment!!

Baby Shower

On Saturday we headed to Virden for a Baby/Bridal Shower at the church. Daddy and Grandad grilled out and we had a nice lunch. Ashley and Alex received lots and lots of very nice gifts. We had ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. It was a very nice day and we really appreciated everyone's generosity with all the gifts. Alex was passed around quite a bit, and met many new people, including his Aunt Angie!!! I told Alex he is a very loved little boy.

Yesterday, Alex and Mommy went to Roodhouse to visit Nana & Papa and Trista and her kids. We had a very busy day of meeting lots of other people too!! Alex visited Papa's grocery store and met Lance and Debbie. He also made a trip across the street to the flower shop and met James & Kay. We went to Larson's to use a gift certificate we received at the baby shower, and purchased Alex his first pair of shoes. They are super cute and will be sported during football season. We'll show you pictures when they make their debut. We also stopped at Trista's Grandma Besty's house to visit with her. Alex also met Sharon Sitton and Rebecca Buttita. Quite a busy day for the little man.

We finally got to spend some time with Trista and Abbie, Will, and Ben at the end of the day. Trista and I swapped babies for a little while, but Ben wasn't really up for visitors. As you can tell from the pictures they have matching outfits, so of course we had to get their pictures taken together. Ben wasn't really up for that adventure either. We'll have to try again some other day. Trista and I hope Alex and Ben are as good of friends as we are!! Will was very excited to meet Alex as well, but Abbie wasn't so much into him. That's OK, I can see her being sick of all the boys. I know exactly what that was like growing up!!
