Gone Fishin'

Tonight Amelia put on Alex's hat and got his fishing pole.  She loves to imitate so much of what he does, and what we do as well.  She's our little mockingbird. I have no words for how grown up she looks today.  She's in love with her new tennis shoes.  They are a little big, but she doesn't want to take them off.  She's still obsessed with shoes and likes to pick out what she's going to wear.  She'll stand in front of her clothes and say 'um um um.'  She also will say the same thing while standing in the pantry picking out a snack.

I've started putting a size 4 diaper on her at night, and they are Little Mover's pull up ones.  She thinks she's a big girl and she calls them her undies.  She's been sitting on the potty before bath time, so maybe she'll get motivated.  I'm not holding my breath, but a Mom can dream.  Speaking of dreams, the last few night Amelia has been waking up screaming bloody murder and is inconsolable.  I think she may be having some kind of night terrors.  Alex also woke up last night dreaming that he had bugs in his bed!  Ugh, bad dreams are no fun.  Normally, she goes to bed with no problem on her own and sleeps well.

Amelia's extremely bossy and opinionated just like her Momma.  The teen years could prove very troublesome for us, but I'm not wanting to wish away my sweet baby yet.  In the morning she always directs Alex to come in and go potty.  Alex thinks it's funny when she spanks his naked butt.  They both laugh and laugh.  She is such a motherly little thing.  She tries to wipe noses at daycare and takes kids to the teacher to get their diapers changed.  She has great manners, always saying 'please' and 'thank-you' and 'bless-you'.  She likes to help me clean and fold laundry.  She loves to wrap her baby dolls in blankets and carry them around.  She also loves her blanket, Elmo doll, and Pup.  She's still a solid thumb sucker.  Heck her brother shows no signs of giving up the fingers anytime soon.

She sure is talking a lot.  The other day I asked her something and her response was 'I sure did!'  She gets up and down confused so she often times just says 'uppydown.'  She is learning her shapes and colors at daycare.  Her first response when you ask her what color something is, is always 'geen.'  She  yells 'octagon' every time we stop at a stop sign.  She loves books and has really taken a liking to the If You Give a Mouse a Cookie series.  She's also getting really good at giving hugs and kisses.


We need a pause button stat!!  She's growing way too fast and so is her brother!
