Dr's Visit and Sonogram

Today we went for an ultrasound and Dr.'s visit. We're a few days shy of the half way point (20 wks). Both Nana Meehan & Grandma Kershaw came with us to see their grandchild in action, but there was little action taking place. This is a pretty chill baby and the little guy didn't want to move around for anything. It's a good thing we didn't want to find out the gender because the baby had it's legs crossed for a good part of the sonogram. The technician kept trying to get a profile picture of the baby, and did a lot of poking and prodding on my stomach and the baby wouldn't change positions for anything. Adam said it's because the baby was sleeping and acting like me. I won't wake up for much either!! Anyway, we were still able to get some good pictures, so we hope you enjoy them.

The baby's heart rate was 158bpm, which is pretty much consistent with what it has been. We were able to see the heart, kidneys, bladder, brain stem, spine, as well as arm, legs, and fingers and toes. All checked out very well.

I'm doing well also. Getting a belly, but that is to be expected at this point. I actually lost half a pound since the last Dr.'s visit, but Dr. Putman isn't concerned. He said the baby is looking healthy and is right on target so he isn't worried. He told me to just keep doing what I'm doing and I should be OK. After the appointment we all went to Steak n Shake. I ordered a milkshake, and figured it couldn't hurt too much since I haven't gained any weight!! I'm sure the extra pounds will be catching up to me soon!! Time will tell! The baby has definitely been doing some moving around lately that I have been able to feel. It's still going to be several weeks before we'll actually be able to feel it externally. Adam is anxiously awaiting that moment!

Today we also stopped at Babies R Us to check out a few things. We plan on going back in the next couple of weeks to register for some things. It's so hard to know what you really need and what isn't necessarily necessary! I guess we'll figure it all out soon enough. So much is just going to be trial and error I suppose.

First Baby Movements

Yesterday and today I keep feeling this little fluttering/kicking in my lower abdomen. I'm thinking it might be the baby letting me know that it is alive and well. It's a pretty weird feeling, but since I've never felt a baby move before I'm not 100% sure that is what I'm feeling. The fact that I've felt it more than one day in a row makes me think that little baby movements are what I'm feeling. Just a few more weeks and we'll be half way through!! Amazing isn't it?!

First Maternity Outfit

So, today I officially wore my first entire maternity outfit to work, and tomorrow I'm officially 18 weeks pregnant. These pants feel so much better than the jeans that were starting to get a bit tight in the belly. I got the shirt from my parents for Christmas, and bought the pants on a whim at Penney's the other day for $9!! What a bargain! The pants are the only purchase I have made, but did get several shirts and a pair of pants for Christmas. I also got a gift card to Motherhood Maternity, so a shopping trip is in my future.

I had Adam take these pictures of my first outfit, as well as to show off the belly as I had been promising. It looks bigger in these pictures than what I thought. I'm not really digging getting these pictures taken, but for the sake of my blog and sharing with my child in the future I'll take one for the team.

Dr's Visit

Today Adam and I ventured out in the yucky weather to go see Dr. Putman. This was a short visit, but all checked out well. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat again. He said it was around 150 bpm, and going strong! I've gained 3 lbs, and still don't have too much of a belly. All my bloodwork came back with no problems, so that's good too! We go back on January 19th for a sonogram and a check-up. I'll be 20 weeks then. Crazy to think that will be the half way point!

First Trimester

Well, we've officially made it through the first trimester of pregnancy!!! YEAH!! I still can't believe I'm pregnant, let alone a third of the way through. I truly was blessed with a great first trimester. I really had no sickness at all. Nothing ever sounded good to eat, but I never was physically ill. I slept a lot, but I enjoy a good nap so that wasn't really a problem. I know my naps are going to be limited in another 6 months, so I will continue to take advantage of them! I have really started to get my appetite back in the last few weeks. Adam has commented on that several times.

Adam also has also recieved the brunt end of quite a bit of moodiness lately. These hormones have definitely done a number on me. At least I can admit I'm being evil though. Adam's been quite the trooper, and I'll try to make it up to him. This moodiness has caused me to not be in the holiday spirit. Adam made me a Christmas CD yesterday, and said he hoped it got me in the spirit. I'm actually listening to it right now! Don't know if it's working or not, but I'm trying!!! He says every year I say, "It's the holiday season!" all the time, and that I haven't said it once. So, here's hoping for some holiday cheer.

I'm starting to get a little belly, but nothing to big. I guess I'm going to start needing to take pictures to keep you all up to date on my growing belly. My regular clothes are still fitting well, so it's going to be a little while longer before I need to invest in some maternity clothes. That really kind of freaks me out. The whole getting a belly thing is really freaking me out too! I don't really know why. Adam told me he didn't peg me as "that girl" that would freak out, but I kind of have been. I'm sure I'll get over it though! I hope anyway!

We go to the Dr. next week, to get blood test results back and have a general check-up. We'll get an ultrasound done sometime in January. For the most part, that's what has been going on! Guess we'll need to start thinking about baby furniture, etc soon. I've looked a few times, but haven't made any decisions. The first trip to Babies 'R Us was pretty overwhelming. Adam walked in and said, "We're going to spend $4,000!!" I told him, "That's what baby shower's are for!" I am excited to start making those decisions, but we've still got some time!

Newest Meehan Family Member

The newest Meehan has arrived!!! Thomas David Meehan V was born on December 2, 2008 at 4:40 pm. He weighed 8 lbs and was 21" long. He's got lots of hair, and looks nothing like his big sister Gabbi did when she was born. He seems to have a larger nose like the Meehan's do, but the infamous Kindred chin. Everyone is doing very well, the only problem is we have no idea what to call the little guy. Adam says he's going to call him Roman Numeral Five, so we decided Roman would be good, but don't think that's really going to stick. Eventually we'll figure something out! All in all today, as been a very wonderful day. Thank the Lord!!

Dr.'s Visit

Today we went and visited our new OB/GYN, Dr. Putman for the first time. We both really liked him, so we're off to a good start. We had an ultrasound again today, and things were looking good! The baby is measuring in at 6.47 cm and the heart was racing at 161 bpm. The baby was waving it's arm back and forth at us, but other than that wasn't too interested in getting its picture taken today. Adam says its already acting like me. We'll see what really happens though! Anyway, all things are progressing nicely. I still haven't gained any weight, but nothing to be concerned with. I'm sure that's coming!! The goal is to only gain about 20-25 lbs anyway. Some days I feel like I have a little belly and other days not. I know that is coming too!! We go back in 3 weeks to get a quick check and go over all the test results from the blood I had drawn today, but we aren't expecting anything too exciting. Then we'll go in about another 3 weeks and get another sonogram. Dr. Putman said I would probably go through sonogram withdrawl since we got them all the time at Dr. Galle's, but I told him I was expecting that! I think we can wait 6 weeks. It'll be neat to see how much the baby has grown in that amount of time! I think that's about it for now! We'll continue to keep you updated! Please keep the prayers coming!
