A Dr's Visit

Alex has had some bumps on his torso for sometime now.  I've had Dr. Veronica look at them and she quickly identified them as being molluscum.  They look similar to a wart, but are a virus that is part of the chicken pox family.  They are very common among children (especially ones with eczema which Alex has) and normally go away on their own in as little as a few weeks or can take up to a few years.  The Dr. said not to worry about them unless they became painful and/or irritated.

Well, the last week or so Alex has been complaining about several of them.  They did look red and irritated so we put some antibiotic ointment on them and kept an eye on them.  A few continued to get worse and look infected so we called the doctor.  They had us come in, and decided to put Alex on an antibiotic and send him to a pediatric dermatologist.  We go at the end of next week so we will see what happens.
