Today our little girl is 1 month old already!!! I truly can't believe it. I don't understand why pregnancy doesn't go as fast as once the baby arrives!! We started off the morning today by heading to the Dr. for Amelia's 1 month well baby visit. She checked in at 9lbs 12 oz (67%) and 21 1/4" long (58%). Her head circumference is 37 1/2 cm (62%). We couldn't believe how much she has grown. Adam and I were thinking she was around 8 1/2 lbs, but boy were we wrong!! All checked out well for our little lady. Her eyes are pretty gunky still, so we have to use eye drops for the next week and keep on massaging them. I just looked up Alex's stats from his 1 month check up and believe it or not they both weighed the exact same, but Amelia is 1/4" taller!! Crazy!
After our appointment the family headed out to run a few errands. We've pretty much been holed up inside the house since Alex's surgery, plus the rain just doesn't seem to want to stop. Alex still hasn't completely bounced back from his surgery. He's been a bit grumpy and very tired. He actually asked to go take a nap yesterday!!! What 2 year old does that (especially since it's after 10 at night now and Adam is stuck upstairs in bed with Alex because he won't fall asleep!!) He also had some drainage from his ear today, so at least we know the tube is working!!!
Of course, this afternoon we had to have a little one month photo shoot. Alex was also very eager to get his picture taken too. He sure can be a good big brother loving on his sister and getting her a teddy bear when she is crying. And then sometimes not, like tonight when I went to throw their diapers away (literally just had to turn around and walk 5 steps) and I turn back around and Alex is straddled sitting on top of Amelia. She's learning to roll with it though!! She's going to be one tough little girl!!
Amelia, in the last month you've changed our lives!! It really seems like you've been a part of our family forever! Your Dad and I marvel at how even though you are so little and can't really communicate we somehow know (most of the time) just what you need. For instance the only way you will sleep in your cradle is on your side. You love to sleep on your tummy (which you aren't supposed to do for safety reasons) but we let you sleep like that during the day when we can watch you. You want to suck your thumb but can't seem to coordinate everything so we've convinced you to try a pacifier. You act like it's the worst thing in the world when we first give it to you, but then you'll take it. You have your Mom's gag reflex for sure!! You are a very good eater and quick too, I think that's why you eat about ever two hours. You love to sit straight up and check out all your surroundings when you decide to be awake. The last week or so you've been staying awake longer and longer. Alex is so surprised when you are awake. He yells, "She's awake!!" like it's a true miracle. You've stolen our hearts Priss and we love you!!
