Reading Stories

Alex wanted to read Amelia his favorite book, Marvin K. Mooney so we sat her on the couch. As soon as I sat her down he told me to go get the camera to take their picture. He says "camera Mommy. " Obviously he enjoys getting his picture taken and I do take lots of pictures so it works!

Dog Days of Summer

As I've mentioned, it's been so hot lately with heat indices today near 110 degrees. We decided to let Briggs in to cool off. Alex was excited and it didn't take long for Briggs to settle in on the cool tile floor. He is shedding like crazy though, so we had to immediately get the vacuum out once he went back outside. Alex loves to vacuum so he helped. I just wish he had a bit more skill with it, then I wouldn't have to do it anymore.

Snappin' Beans

One of my favorite things about summer is . . . fresh green beans!! Alex also has been enjoying them as well. He even likes to help snap the beans in half. He's such a good little helper, even though his approach seems to be one bean for the bowl and one bean for his mouth!! Alex also cooked a few beans up on his stove.

Today Nana & Papa stopped by on their way home from visiting Uncle Jacob in Chicago. Alex was at daycare, but Amelia got some good snuggle time in. She even showed them what a pretty smile she has!

Also we need to give a special shout out to Uncle Trevor & Uncle Travis. . . . Happy Happy Birthday today!!!

A Visit to Bunker Hill

Today we headed to Bunker Hill with Mommy's friend, Laura and two of her kids to visit Trista and her gang. We also stopped by for a little visit with Great Grandma Meehan. She was so excited to see us, and couldn't believe how big Amelia is getting.

We checked out the Manar's new pool. The water was really warm as the heat wave continues. If you weren't in the water you pretty much wanted to go inside. Of course not Alex, he caught sight of the digger that had been used to dig the hole for the swimming pool, and had to check it out.

At the Zoo

I don't know who's idea it was to go to the zoo when it was a million degrees outside, but we did!! It's a really cute little zoo, so we were able to get through it fairly quickly. Aunt Sara has a membership to the zoo so we were able to get in with her free passes, so we didn't feel bad when we only stayed for about an hour and half. We saw lots of animals, rode the carousel (Alex's first time ever and he loved it), and the train (which of course he loved).

We stopped at McDonald's on the way home and then all went home to get showers because we all felt so yucky. Then we had to get ready to pack up and head home. We had such a fun time hanging with family and doing fun things close to home.

We came home in time to unload the car and chill for a bit before Daddy had to go teach class and we met Aunt Amy and the crew for her birthday at Coz's pizza. Happy Birthday Aunt Amy!!

Splash Park

After naps we headed back out to splash around in the water. This splash park was free and a perfect way to spend a very hot afternoon. Alex had a blast and Eva was a little more adventurous than the first time she went. It helps having an older cousin to show you the ropes. Since Alex opted not to nap whenever one else did he crashed on the way home.

We cooked out on the grill, sent the kids to bed and the four adults enjoyed a dinner to ourselves!! Just being able to eat with two hands is such a treat sometimes!!
