Brotherly Love

Alex really has done a good job with his new sister. He loves to give her kisses and hold her (but only for about 10 seconds). Tonight I went into the kitchen to get a drink and when I came back to the family room this is what I saw. How precious is this?? Of course, then Alex had to get a picture taken by himself so that he could look at it on the camera. He's really into saying 'cheese' these days and then looking at himself!!

Sprinkler Time

For early June it sure is hot out, upper 90's and very humid. Daddy hasn't had a chance to put up the swimming pool that Grandma & Papa got Alex for his birthday, so we decided to bust out the sprinkler tonight. Hopefully when Daddy is done with school later this week he'll have a little more time!!

Mommy had to run through the sprinkler the first time with Alex so that he knew what to do, but after that he was running through on his own. He really had a good time!! Having a little one really makes you appreciate the little things in life.

I also appreciate the fact that I'm able to take so much time off work. Amelia and I went into work today, so that I could fill out insurance paperwork. We had a nice time visiting with lots of people and I got to eat lunch with some of my favorite girls. While it was nice to see them, I'm so glad I get to spend the whole summer with my family!!!

Busy Boy

Great Aunt Laura came to meet Amelia today. She also brought gifts!! She brought Alex a leaf blower for his birthday and boy was he on cloud nine!! He played with it for hours! Unfortunately that means he is going to have to retire his current 'leaf blower' which is a back scratcher. The back scratcher has periodically been a favorite of Alex's since he was about 6 months old. He even lays it on the ground and pulls an imaginary string to get the blower started and then he makes a sound with his mouth that emulates a blower. It amazes me how long he will make the noise (seriously he'll do it for half hour).

While Great Aunt Laura was visiting Amelia's eye went from being a little gunky to really yucky. She had so much green puss coming out of her left eye. We kept putting a warm wash cloth on it, but by the evening it was almost like she was crying puss. We called the telenurse and she talked to the pediatrician on call who said we should go to the emergency room. I wasn't really comfortable taking such a little baby to the emergency room, so we decided to call Dr. Veronica's nurse and see what she had to say. She was nice enough to call us in a prescription. So, let's hope this medicine works otherwise we'll be headed to the Dr's office on Monday.

Well Baby Visits

Alex & Amelia both had to go to the Dr. today. Alex for his 2 year well baby visit and Amelia to make sure she was gaining weight. They both checked out beautifully!!

Alex weighed in at 31 1/2 lbs (86th percentile) and was 36" tall (88th percentile). He is all caught up on his vaccines, so no shots for him! The tube that is in his left ear is just sitting in the ear canal not doing it's job. We go back to see Dr. Garcia in a few weeks so we'll see what he says, but I'm guessing we'll be having another surgery in the near future.

Amelia weighed in at 6 lbs 14 oz, which was her birth weight. She was 6 lbs 7 oz when she left the hospital. She's a very good eater and is nursing so well. She has to go back at the end of the month for her 1 month check up.

Happy Birthday Alexander!!!

How is it possible that we have a little boy who is now 2 years old?!?!? What a blessing you are to us. We had a very busy day today. We tried to make it all about Alex! Daddy started off the morning making french toast and we had breakfast in bed! Then we had to get ready for a visit to the Dr's office. Afterwards we headed to McDonald's for some lunch and playtime. The playland was a little advanced for Alex, but he still seemed to have fun. Then we stopped to get Alex a balloon and he picked out a Lightening McQueen one. He fell asleep on the way home and slept for 2 1/2 hours after we got home.

After waking up he had lots of energy so we did a lot of playing. He of course noticed his present and wasted no time opening it. He got a t-ball set, so we immediately went outside to play with it. It was short lived because he gave in to his real passion, lawn mowing!! Daddy really wishes that lawn mower worked because he wouldn't have to mow anymore! We played with bubbles, drove cars, colored with sidewalk chalk, and even started practicing using the pedals on his tricycle.

We had a yummy dinner of pork steak, homemade mac and cheese, and green beans. Of course had we dessert too!! Alex loved us singing Happy Birthday to him and we did it several times throughout the day and twice after dinner. He wasn't interested in eating the jello pie that Gabbi and Nana had made, but luckily there was one piece of angel food cake left over from Monday's other birthday celebration. We ended the night taking a bath and using our new bathtub crayons and inviting Baby to take a bath too. Luckily we were able to use little baby as a back up when it came to bed time. We then all climbed into Mommy and Daddy's bed for a family snuggle session while watching a movie. What a great day!!!

Homemade Birthday Card

Every morning Alex starts his day by watching Sprout TV. Mommy made a card to send to the show in hopes of making it on their birthday segment, but we weren't so lucky. Alex was excited when I showed him the card and I had fun making it. Happy Birthday Bugga!!!
