Little Shopper

 

 

 

Alex loves having a little cart that he can push around at the grocery store.  He was in heaven tonight!!  Unfortunately my heels were not in heaven, as he ran over them several times.  

First Dentist Appointment

Today I went for my 6 month cleaning at the dentist.  Alex came along to get his first 'exam.'  There really wasn't much to it, but he paid close attention to them cleaning my teeth.  Alex enjoyed putting the little mirror in my mouth and checking out my teeth.  He also checked Baby's teeth and Billy's teeth.

I don't know if I've introduced Billy to you or not, but he is Alex's imaginary friend.  He comes and goes as he pleases.  I don't know too much about him other than he is Alex's friend and he lives close by and sometimes he gets the brunt end of things when Alex doesn't want to take responsibility for doing something wrong.

Anyway, Dr. Whiteside had Alex open his mouth and he used the mirror to look at his teeth and to count them all.  That was about it.  He did leave with a new toothbrush.  Next time we'll attempt a full fledged cleaning and exam.  Fingers crossed it goes well.  He's not a big fan of brushing his teeth so it should be interesting to see what happens.

While we were driving to the dentist, Alex told me numerous times his ear hurt.  As soon as we got to the dentist he told the lady at the front desk his ear hurt.  He's been coughing and not eating much the last few days, so this afternoon we headed to Dr's office to see what's going on.  It ends up that he doesn't have an ear infection, but the tube in his right ear has shifted around and is laying on its side.  It's still far up in the ear canal to remove it, so we'll just have to keep an eye on it.  They said he was probably felt it shifting around in his ear and that's why  it hurt.  We're going to put some ear drops in his ears for the next few days and see how things go.  Today Alexander Stephen weighed in at 38 lbs.  He really is getting tough to carry around.

While at the Dr's office we put Amelia on the scale too.  She weighed in today at 20 lbs 12 oz.  She still seems so little, but I don't understand how.  The girl can eat like a grown woman!!  Since deciding that she doesn't want to nurse my milk supply has gone down some.  I'm getting about 10 oz a day and she really needs about 16-18 oz.  I asked the Dr. today what we should be doing.  She orginally said to supplement with formula.  That killed me since neither of my kids have ever had a drop of it.  After giving me some free samples of formula she changed her mind and said go ahead and just give her whole milk mixed with my milk.  She's only got about a month until she transitions anyway.  Why does she continue to grow so fast!!  Not fast enough for us to think about having another one yet though!!

Playing Around

Amelia was keeping herself entertained while Mommy caught up on her DVRd shows and Daddy and Alex ran to the grocery store and to grab some dinner.  It was a pretty lazy weekend at our house!  

Bubble Bath

Alex did not want to take a bath tonight.  He's really into showers these days, but neither Adam and I wanted to take one.  We finally convinced him that if he took a bath with Amelia that we would put bubbles in the tub.  They had a blast.  Love hearing our house filled with laughter.

Rocking and Rolling

Tonight Alex and Amelia enjoyed a fun Friday night rocking in their rocking chairs.  After Amelia went to bed Alex was rolling around the family room with quite an interesting look.  What a funny little boy!

Naked Elf

Tonight Alex was getting ready to take a bath.  He insisted on taking a shower with his Daddy upstairs.  He then proceeded to take his clothes off, put on a Christmas elf hat and yell "Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas"  all the way upstairs.  He also ripped a giant fart and laughed hysterically at his naked self.

 I knew a picture wouldn't be appropriate, and this story may not be funny to anyone reading, but Adam and I laughed so hard that I wanted to remember the moment when I read this years from now.

The Things They Say

Last night was the first meal I had cooked since coming back from vacation.  I could tell Alex was happy to be home when he said to me, "Thanks for cooking dinner Mom."  It pretty much made my night.  What a sweet little boy we have.  He then proceeded to try and put his spoon on his nose.  I asked him who taught him how to do it and he told me "Misty and Chris."  Those are his teachers at school, so I'm pretty sure he's telling stories.  Love his imagination and how much he makes me laugh.

Tonight Alex continued to amuse me during bath time, as he was having a beach party.  He was drinking soda (ie using a shampoo bottle) and watching movies (ie Curious George, Fireman Sam, Tangled, and something else).  He then proceeded to move the beach party to the laundry room.  Where he was relaxing in a rocking chair and laying in the sun.  

I love the ideas Alex comes up with and the things he says, but I very rarely remember to actually write them down.  Glad I remembered to capture this little moments!

Speaking of saying things, Amelia has really been working on her vocabulary.  While we were gone Nana worked really hard on teaching her to say Nana.  I haven't heard her say it, but Nana says she is!!!  She has also been working on saying dog and hot.  She is absolutely in love with Briggs and gets so excited to see him. He's so jumpy and licks her, which grosses me out but she really loves it.  She sure has been trying to find her voice lately and makes several screams and such to try and communicate with us.  She's growing up way too fast.
