Happy Birthday Ma!

Today we headed to Hillsboro to celebrate Ma's 87th birthday. Unfortunately Ma doesn't really know what is going on these days, but she loves to sit in a rocking chair and just rock the day away. She's content to just be around people. Alex enjoyed spending a little time with Ma and we did too! Alex loved playing with the dogs, Daisy and Daphne. I think he was taken back at how little they were compared to our Briggsy!! He enjoyed chasing them under the table and throwing their toys to them. We were also able to see some extended family that we haven't seen in a very very long time so it was a nice day!

Trying to Breath Better

Alex has been battling through the bronchitis. He isn't a big fan of taking his medicine, but we are managing. We've also been giving him breathing treatments, which he tolerates pretty well. We just put a DVD in the laptop and that occupies him for the most part. As of late, he watches 'Big Trucks' over and over and over again. Nana and Papa got this for him for Christmas and they for sure have gotten their money out of it. It's actually called 'Mighty Machines' and it consists of firetrucks, city trucks like tree trimmers and street sweepers, and finally a visit to the garbage dump. The fire truck is by far his favorite!

Update: February 3, 2011

Daddy took Alex for a follow-up visit today, since he didn't have school for the 3rd day in a row!!! Alex got the all clear from Dr. Veronica!!!! Here's hoping we can get through the rest of the winter without another visit to the doctor!!!

Today I am 20 weeks pregnant, half way there!! This pregnancy has seemed a bit longer than the last one, but we definitely had a rough start! Luckily things are going much better now!! Today we headed to Dr. Putman's for our 20 week sonogram and check-up. We are happy to report that are little one is growing right on schedule and had a heart beat of 152 bpm. Dr. Putman said things looked as perfect as they could be!!!! What more could we possibly ask for?!?!? I know some would say to know the gender, but sorry you'll just have to keep waiting and wishing!!

I have gained 2 1/2 pounds since the last visit, for a total weight gain of 6 pounds. I have to admit I'm pretty proud of myself. I'm hoping I continue on this path. It will make losing the weight afterwards so much easier!!! I have been having a lot of lower back pain, so he gave me some exercises and stretches to try. I'll go back again right before we leave for our trip to make sure everything is continuing to go well.

Sick Baby Boy!

Alex hasn't been feeling good for the last week. He's had a cough and a runny nose, but we really just thought it was a cold. This weekend he just wasn't acting like himself and on Sunday he had a low-grade fever. He was hardly eating and was extremely fussy. So, Adam took off work and we made an appointment to see what was going on.

Alex ended up having to get a chest X-ray done because they thought he may have pneumonia. They had to put Alex inside a clear tube and Adam had to hold his hands above his head. There was a lot of crying and screaming, but not as bad as Daddy thought it was going to be. It's a good thing I wasn't there because I don't think I would have been able to handle it. But actually I wouldn't have been able to be in there since I am pregnant, so all in all way better Adam was there.

After getting the results back they determined it was actually acute bronchitis. He has to take Amoxicillian for the next 10 days and then we have to go back for a follow-up visit. We are also doing breathing treatments on him to try and breakup some of the chest congestion. He's done a lot of coughing since we gave him the treatment tonight so hopefully this will help!! Poor little man. It's the pits not being able to make your baby feel better!!

Little Feet Everywhere

Last night when we were laying on the couch, Mommy said that the baby was really active. So, I put my hand on her stomach, and after a few minutes, I felt a little kick! Even though this our second time around, it doesn't make feeling the baby any less amazing. A few days ago, I looked back at the blog to see when I first felt Alex kick. It was on January 26th. If the due date wasn't enough to tell us, a few tiny kicks reminded us that our little ones are on a very similar path. It's going to be an exciting June! (. . .or maybe even May?)

So, after feeling the kicks of new baby Kershaw, we went to bed. Then, this morning, we woke up, and I headed upstairs to fetch Alex like I usually do. Half-way up the stairs, I heard him wake-up, and whisper "Hello?" When I got to the top of the stairs, I was greeted by an empty bed. Usually, if Alex gets out of bed, we can hear a few thumps over the monitor--which are often followed by some frantic "Momma"s and "Dada"s. Evidently, last night, Alex was quite calm after he made his way out of bed because when I stepped into the room, I could see two pajama-bottomed feet sticking out from under his bed. I have no idea how long he slept under there, but he seemed quite comfortable. In fact, it took me a minute to get him out from under there. Although I don't want to deprive the little man of his comfy hiding spot, I went ahead and put a small step-stool next to the bed. Now, he at least has the option of crawling back into bed rather than under it.

Nana & Papa invited us over to go sledding down the big hill since we didn't have to work in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday. Nana made chili and hot dogs for lunch. We were going to wait until after naps for sledding, but Alex refused to take a nap and Thomas slept way too long so we headed out without him. He didn't even know he missed anything.

Of course Uncle Adam and Gabbi had a great time throwing snowballs at one another. Uncle Adam got Gabbi really good one time!! Papa even managed to pull Alex in the sled one handed. He's still not 100% after his rotator cuff surgery, but he getting better! Mommy even managed to take a turn down the hill, but barely missed a bunch of trees. It was my only trip down the hill!!! The same was true for Nana!

The snow was perfect for making a snow man, so we did!!! Of course Daddy and Uncle Thomas had to immediately destroy it, but it was still fun!! We headed inside and had smores made in the fire place. What a fun day!!!

Briggs Briggs

After I finished blogging tonight, Alex sat next to Briggs and said 'cheese' and posed for the camera. He loves his Briggs Briggs!!! Thank God Briggs loves him too. Briggs just lays and chews on his bone while Alex loves and crawls ALL over him.
